Re: New Speed Upgrades 8th March. (Part 3)

SUGGESTION: Use option 5 when calling CS!

Seeing as the maximum anyone could get on the old package is about 16GB per day, I'm not totally sure how A|ex is getting 40-60GB per day. Or where he's storing it all for that matter.

No, you can only get 1Mbps maximum through a Pace box. Call CS and request they replace it with a Samsung box and that they upgrade you to 1Mbps for the time being.

Ah, but the upload's crap, right ?? ;)

I'm now on 2Mbs in Brighton (Bromley) - through the website upgrade page, no hassle whatsoever. :)

This time last year I was gobsmacked at how fast my new 600Kbs connection was, and all for just £24.99 ... ;)

Well done NTL :tu:

Mine is Samsung, not Pace. AFAIK No Pace boxes will support more than 1mbit. (Hell it struggled at that speed). I used have the latest 4000 box, and I still had to have it swapped.

Upgrade to 2mbit stay on 19.99 fee?

My friend is on the 768k service at the old billing rate of 19.99 (from when he signed up for the original 500k package), he was wondering with the upgrade if he would have to pay the 24.99 that everybody is paying or if he would stop on 19.99?

Anybody know the answer?

Thanx

If anybody is subscribed to the broadband + Xbox live service from NTL, there is no option online to request this as an upgrade. I was upgraded to 2Mb but could not connect to Xbox live (and vice versa), as I was automatically upgraded to standard 2Mb service. NTL broadband guy suggested this was a slight oversight on NTL's part.

Mention this when upgrading to get the correct package (two IP addresses, etc.).

Hope this helps :)

BTW very pleased with upgrade. Thanks NTL :D

Im not sure if that applies to my area as anytime i have requested this im told that the broadband cannot be subscribed to on its own, ive been paying the extra £19.50 a month since i first got NTL for a phone-line and set-top box that i hardly ever use.

Ill wait till all this upgrade chaos is over and call them again.

Daft question - I thought exisiting customers were going to be charged for the upgrade I see no notice of this (Kirklees area 3mb avail). So I can have the double the speed for the same price with the same usage limit!?
