Highlights have been shown at 9PM on Channel Five for the past three seasons
The highlights show attracts just 500,000 viewers - much lower than expected

If that's their main goal then Quest is an odd choice indeed. Way down the EPG on both SKY and Freeview and doesn't broadcast in HD. My Dad is coming up for 70. If I didn't tell him about this he'd probably have no idea EFL highlights where still available on TV after they drop from Channel 5.

A key paragraph is:

'A source at one current Premier League broadcaster says his best bet is that Amazon is in "exploration mode" in this year's sale, which covers three seasons beginning in 2019. The blind bidding means that an all-out assault from Amazon cannot be ruled out, however.'

While I believe that a takeover by Amazon in this round is unlikely, it does remain a possibility.

It will be a probability in 2022.

Very odd move that, moving football highlights to Quest. Not a channel I've ever watched myself so no idea what channel number is on Sky.

It is not uncommon to find live sport on Quest

Not the fan of NRL but what will Premier Sports broadcast now?

They did broadcast NRL about every day of the week.

Maybe Premier will move away from the Pay TV Channel and rebrand as Freesport 2 or Freesport Extra.

The problem with Quest is it's also only available in blurry vision SD , as others have said very strange decision.

Not sure how putting the highlights on an obscure channel lower down the EPG is going to help.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but isn't Quest part of Discovery ?

I've not heard it mentioned but I have a feeling Discovery Communications may have bid this time for some of the Premier League rights. But what do I know.

Quest is own by Discovery.

For all we known maybe Discovery is set to launch an HD Channel for Quest.

They can axe DMAX or Discovery Shed if they wanted an channel number.

We think 20%.

We feel Discovery will be busy this year with rebranded of channels due to Food Network and Travel Channel joining "by April 2018"*.

Also two 24 hours channels are up for sale soon on Freeview with ITV3 and TBC moving to the D3&4 mux.

Maybe Discovery will buy an slot lift over from ITV3 and TBC moving.

*EU OK it last week.

This is Malone's latest position I can find. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/12/17/libe...ery-stock.html
I think we can safely say he has a major holding in Discovery.
