It appears the Premier League rights auction have gone into another round of bidding with no announcement today.

Well, that’s interesting. This may indicate other interested parties stepping into the fray.

I wouldn't read too much into no news today, The Premier League have consistently said there would be no announcement until next week on how the auction went.

Sky Sports has strengthened its position as the home of rugby league, with the return of regular NRL matches for the first time in over a decade.

So much for unfounded rumours that Sky was going to cut things and reduce its content.

They will have paid peanuts for that content and it complements their Super League coverage well.

Mad Max.

My whole and total whinge about VM. Is that they are always increasing there prices.

Three times last year - and NO increase in NEW channels.

We the customer deserve better.

My wife does have VM, and the basic package. We have Sky as we have it on a cheaper package and get MORE channels that VM have.

VM couldn't beat the Sky deal, my wife tried.

My hunch is despite things said to the contrary l expects the rights auction and what they will generate to go up by at least another 15 to 20% when the results are revealed next week.

I don't believe Sky were ever going to cut their sports content, but they have indicated that there is a limit to how much more they are prepared to pay to retain the Premiership rights.

I know, I was just trying to put some context to your statement, which was not quite right, I believe.

The two telecoms giants are locked in negotiations over wholesale fees for BT Sport, with Virgin Media under pressure to pay more to retain access to all top-flight football.
