It's not only the Daily Mail.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/20...-league-rights

These reports emanate from Gavin Patterson's statement that BT have a 'Plan B', but this might have been misinterpreted. BT have previously stated that winning the Premiership rights is not existential for them because they have rights to the Champions League and other sports which would allow them to continue to offer their own sport channels.

All of this does not necessarily mean that BT will not bid this time around. They may be merely facing the reality of having potentially to face more competition this time. With the number of viewers falling off and football now having to pay for itself on BT, they are not going to be paying silly money to retain these rights.

Have to agree with you, the costs will not increase at the rate seen at previous auctions and may even stagnate.

You may well be right, but who knows what bids may be made by new global players. This may be an ideal time for them to disrupt the market.

I heard a news Sports TV channel has started that available. On various Tv broadcastors.

VM have turned this down, as they say the channels wants too much money for it.

Typical VM, want channels on the cheap

Arthur, if you are so much against VM why don't you just toddle off and go to Sky? All you ever do is whinge and moan about VM, it's becoming extremely boring!

Well, that does keep prices down, Arthur, and price rises are your other bugbear! It's either one or the other.

The channel is Freesports, only available in SD. No great shakes!

Most can watch on freeview apart from those of us who live to close to Europe and are unable to receive it.

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news

Dedicated TV channel Racing UK have confirmed they have secured rights to broadcast from all Ireland’s 26 tracks from January 2019 as well as all action from all-weather track Chelmsford City.

Quote:

The double swoop is both a major coup for RUK and a bitter blow for Attheraces, whose Irish content has been the jewel of its TV rights.
Quote:

The most significant battle ground for the future is which channel can secure non-terrestrial rights to broadcast Ascot.
Quote:

The Berkshire track, with its iconic royal meeting in June, is currently shown on RUK but its original partner was ATR and the track has made it clear it will negotiate the package which best suits it on all its broadcast packages.

There have been rumours of other RUK tracks also considering a switch.
It is also as yet unclear whether recent developments will have any effect on plans for ATR to morph into Sky Sports Racing next year.
