Desmond, who officially bought the broadcaster yesterday for £103million, also announced that he is already in talks with Endemol regarding the rights for the show, which comes to an end on Channel 4 in September.

He is apparently eager to launch more reality and celebrity based programming on the channel, with ITV hit The X Factor also said to be on his hit list.

According to The Telegraph, he apparently plans to ‘cross sell’ such content across his media empire – which includes notorious BB gossip newspaper The Daily Star – in an attempt to revitalise the genre.

Earlier this year, Endemol made an ultimately unsuccessful bid to buy the channel.

Last August, Channel 4 announced that it would not renew their contract for Big Brother when it expires, meaning the current eleventh edition will be their last main series.

Five need newer better programmes because it is more pointless than some of the channels on cable so it would be a good investment for them

yer the new channel 5 owner wants big brother so hopfully we will have bb next year when do you think we will find out when he signed it

This weeks save and replace task

For today's Save & Replace task, it's Battle of the Brides as the four nominated housemates become lucky wedding brides.

Each bride must choose a trusted companion from amongst their non-nominated fellow housemates who will become catchers for the duration of the task.

Each bride will throw a bouquet of flowers over their heads for their most trusted companion to catch. Each bride must choose a different person as their trusted companion.

The brides get five attempts each, and the bride whose bouquet has been caught the most will win the task.

In the event of a tie, brides will take part in a sudden death tie break.
