I was NOT told of the change to the price, for information I was told by two people at the customer service it would cost more, and told by the Virgin Media Helpsite by email that you do not have to upgrade there for the price will stay the same and NOT go up. Is it being suggested in the earlier post that all VM customer service people are dipsticks, it was not like this when it was telewest. virgin is better at twisting the facts. |

You are getting a 5 fold increase in speed just for being a customer. The upgrade is free regardless of the £2 increase for the platform you are on. The upgrade has to be done in stages so as not to affect the stability of the network, if they just flicked a switch and it all fell over you would not be best pleased. |

The speed change is not something you can say no to as it does not affect the price |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
The £2.00 increase is not for the 2meg to 10 meg upgrade, the £2.00 price increase is for the service, as the price for the M package has gone up by £2.00, so surely people should be happy that their internet will now be 10 meg instead of 2 meg.
You just can't keep everyone happy these days. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
It looks like some of the forum members did have notification of the price increase, so for the third time I did not have any information of an increase.
To make it worst when I ask today about the increase and TOLD (look told) it was because the upgrade to 10mb, I was then told I have not got the 10mb yet so I ask why have I been charged for a service I have not got. Can I ask how some of the forum members are so sure about the increase when I have been told "Virgin Media understands that not all customers wish to go ahead with this change and want to go back on to their 2mb connection for £18, so if you wish you can go back on your 2mb service and a £2 credit will be applied to your account". It seems we have a choice. I have been with cable from the start (United Artiest) and to be honest I don't think you can beat them for strait to the point information I don't like BT, but if this goes on I will be cancelling my service in October, nice one, Richard's fair play. |

http://www.virginmedia.com/help/traffic-management.php So for the sake of £2 you would willingly downgrade to broadband size S with its severe restrictions on download limits just to save around 50p per week. It may be a choice if they allow it but you would have to be mad to choose it all for £2 per month saving. If you downgrade it will be to this S tier 2Mb as your original M tier 2Mb tier will disappear come October. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
No you are right £2 for the faster broadband is good value that's if you get the upto 10mb my 2mb I'm lucky to get 500k down load and before any one says speak to the technical team I gave up with that.
But it's the principle of not telling you, I am in Bristol and no one that I know has on VM has been told by post or email about the change in price and I have just notice phone calls and connection changes has gone up on 1st June. So if you pay by cash and want a paper bill it cost more too, what else has gone up that we are not told about. As my bill is not itemised now I would have never known. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Well it sounds like Virgin might want to have a word with the postal service in Bristol then!
Everyone I know all over the country got the price change information |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Yes I have emailed a complaint again to ask for the increase changes to be sent or emailed to me.
I am glad there are some employees from VM hear to help with some answers thanks guys. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Even if they do all it will say is the same as you already know - that from the 1st May BB M went up by £2 and there is now a £1.25 paper bill fee

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
It might also be worth pointing out that Virgin bill one month in advance, so any changes are also reflected on your bill before they take the increased amount. So failing that you never received a letter, you were still informed in another sense via your bill. So you were informed of a price rise.....
