Probably rightfully. The £35-£40 million price was insane. That's Ozil money! Or Mata! Not someone who may not make it yet. Plus if there is one thing we don't need it's more midfielders.

No missed that, went with a mate who is actually a season ticket holder at Turf Moor to watch Rochdale ( my third team) take on Wednesday in the FA Cup.

Really good game, Rochdale marginally the better side but got undone from two corners. If they can carry that form through the rest of the season then they should hopefully get automatic promotion.

I did hear that at around fifty people walked out of Boundary Park after 30 minutes.:D

Maybe but £37 million is a big risk in the hope that happens. We could easily get a good striker for less than that.

Absolutely, Arsenal could have. Higuain was available at 25m£! in a market that was dry of strikers something Wenger himself said and yet the ones that did become available ended up elsewhere.

I don't for one second believe the Suarez pursuit lasted as long as the media make it out to have.

I think that video's suddenly appeared to curtail the recent comeback of Andy Gray. My mate's an Oldham supporter. His parents moved down here about 30 years when he was 12/13. I took him to the Bridge when Oldham were last in the top flight, and I've been with him to the likes of Wycombe, Oxford, Swindon and Brentford a few times over the years. It's quite surreal joining in with the soft southern bas.... sort of chants :)

(2/2): Walcott injury didn't change that due to options on right. M'field became short-term issue. They just want Draxler whenever they can

I wont deny Arsenal have a very good chance winning the league this season but again to say Arsenal wont get another chance is a bit extreme. Ozil was dubbed as a pipedream remember. If no one significant leaves in the summer and Arsene spends money on a top quality striker then the club will basically be where they should be.

No one thought we stood a chance of getting top four this year. Let alone fighting for the title. People think football is all about firing managers and buying players because it's all the press talk about. Ramsey was slagged off, Giroud was slagged off, Mertasacker was slagged off, Koscielney was slagged off. These were all players we needed to replace according to the experts. You laughed when we signed Flamini simply because he didn't cost money.

Manchester City will always be able to outspend us. We're not going to win playing their game. However it's extreme to say we won't get another chance.

Yes it does. Wenger looks out for the club. You really think another attacking midfielder is what we need for £37 million? Just a bit cheaper than Ozil and the same price as United paid for Mata? For Draxler who is still not in the world class tier of players? It's a stupid price to pay for a prospect player and how would he help us in the title run in when it's a position we're not really weak in?

It's even more than City played for Agüero! or Toure. Or Silva. Yet we should pay that for Draxler. Wenger is right.

But even that shows how absurd Draxler's price is. Higuain, a better more established player, cost £25 and even when it was hiked to the pay more level he was still cheaper than Draxler.

Draxler is also a big risk and could easily be a flop. He is 20 and hasn't played in the Premier League. He isn't what we need for a title push. Better to keep the big money until the summer IMO.

From BBC site, subject is, who did the best business over the transfer window, and there is no one as deluded as a football fan

"Mikey Tomlinson: Tottenham did the best business. Got all their work done over the summer which allows the players to become a cohesive unit.

From the bbc site (and i hope arsene didn't do same :) )

The wrong Kim
Somehow, I think Arsenal supporters have been tweeting the wrong Kim Kallstrom...

Kim Kallstrom: Thanks...I did play soccer back in the day, but won't be playing for the Arsenal. I am just a soccer mom in Tennessee now!

Probably frustrated no striker was signed.

But now Arsenal's fans interest will be on Monday nights game (presuming they win theirs on Sunday), and the forthcoming games against Man utd and liverpool (twice)

One might surmise the match was moved at the last moment due to police advice and by that time the televised game was already picked.

I'm not sure, they may have an eye on fixtures later on in the season, with the relegation battle heating up but still this is a massive game. On premierleague.com

Quote:

Newcastle v Sunderland

This fixture was previously scheduled on Saturday 1 February 2014 at 15:00 but was rescheduled due to the request of the Clubs

I'm sure Sky have changed picked fixtures before so even if this was a late move BT could have switched ?

Thenry, this is from BBC site, and begs question, why sign him

"New Arsenal signing Kim Kallstom is set for a spell on the sidelines with a back injury that was discovered in the medical before he signed on loan from Spartak Moscow.

"The 31-year-old Sweden midfielder sustained the problem on Tuesday while playing football on a beach during Spartak's pre-season tour in Abu Dhabi.

"He informed Arsenal of discomfort upon arriving at the club on Friday but, despite an MRI scan showing no damage, a CT scan found an issue with his back.

"The Arsenal medical team provided manager Arsene Wenger with the prognosis, but it was decided Kallstrom would still join and undergo his rehabilitation with the Gunners.

"He is expected to miss at least Arsenal's next six games, in which they face Crystal Palace, Liverpool twice, Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Sunderland.

No, bringing in a central midfielder would have been the cure. You know, the position where United are most vulnerable right now. But no, Moyes is the right man for the job. It's the players, the referee, the opposition, the weather, the fans and the ladies who wash the kit etc is where the problem is.

He needs to take his small-club mentality back to Everton.

I have to agree. Not been too impressed so far, and I don't agree with his decision about RVP saying when he plays. I would think it should be medical staff, manager and player.

If this problem appeared in the medical and Arsenal have marked it as the player being out for a lengthy period then it doesn't help at all. I understand the guy being brought in to cover right away with the condition of the squad, injuries and suspensions but to rely on him further down the line ? Wasn't there other midfielders available ?

I don't understand anymore. I still don't understand why Arsenal didn't have a solid agreement with Real Madrid for Higuain. The Italians printed pictures of Juves officials with RM officials along with the headline 'Juve can't afford to pay 25m£ cash'. Its disgusting, Arsenal have all this money which they wont spend but then will they throw it away on useless crap. Do remember Arsenal fans have to pay for a fair bit of this, its not like we're being treated by a 'sugar daddy'.

Arsenal should have gone in bold in the summer just like Tim Payton/AST was saying. 100m spend. Ozil and Cavani. Can you imagine this Arsenal side with Cavani in it ?
