Don't forget that Sky have Now TV, and that probably accounts for most people who would want Sky via the internet - about 1.6 million subscribers last year per Ofcom. (Virgin Media has about 3.6m on its cable TV).

Very true - they have a decent install base for their current broadband product and if they wanted to create a much bigger pay tv package over broadband, they could just leverage the service they have in place already and bulk that up.

Amazon has launched a live TV package for the customers of its subscription service Amazon Prime in Germany which, unlike other linear TV channels, is offered without extra charge.
Perhaps this might happen over here in time.

Katz said what they really noticed is people liked just having something playing when they opened Peacock, akin to standard cable TV.

What? These fiends using Peacock like the experience of something playing when they log in rather than yet another playlist or virtual shelf? Sacré bleu!

Pluto TV auto-plays a "channel" when you load it up. No idea how it decides which one, probably random.
