If Amazon were to acquire the channel, it would plug a gap for me as it is the only channel worth having for which I cannot gain access, other than by actually subscribing also to BT TV. Although some may decry the output of AMC, there are some good films (most of 3 and 4 star quality) and original output on that channel, which compares favourably with Sky One, and without the junk. AMC is the home of Fear the Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Mad Men, so to my mind, it is a channel worthy of note. If I could access this channel or its content through Amazon, I would be well pleased. |

So, AMC could be present on Sky without the BT Sport subscription and it could also be made available on Virgin Media. |

Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Interesting that it was felt that clarification was needed regarding AMC remaining exclusively on BT.
http://www.seenit.co.uk/no-the-amazo...drama-channel/ What it doesn't say is how long the multi-year deal lasts for. It would be interesting to know that. Whether AMC will extend the deal beyond the existing contractual arrangements remains to be seen. I still hope that VM will negotiate a deal that includes this channel when seeking to extend the existing BT Sport wholesale deal. After all, Sky satellite subscribers who sign up to BT Sport can get it. Why, then, with our wholesale deal which helps to prop up BT Sport, can we not do so? |
Re: ESPN, BT, Euro, Premier and Sky Sports news
Mike Fries believes that the detente between Sky and BT will lead to more stability in prices charged to customers.
http://www.digitaltveurope.com/2018/...eat-in-europe/ However, on the subject of investing in content, Fries said that Liberty would not bid for top premium properties such as English Premier League football. He said that the “détente” between BT and Sky was good news because it signaled the likelihood of more rational pricing for premium sports rights. |

---------- Post added at 13:22 ---------- Previous post was at 12:46 ---------- Will they, won't they? Although I've been inclined to believe that Amazon is more likely to bid for the Premier League rights after the imminent bidding round, some analysts are predicting that they could bid this time. The scenario put forward by Berenberg envisages Amazon going for one of the smaller packages this time, and with more games up for grabs, this could mean a similar number of games for Sky and BT as they have now, with Amazon also providing an offering. That would be interesting, particularly if Amazon decided to charge punters less than BT. In my view, if that happened, this would be the last time that BT would join the bidding war as it would struggle to make money if their subscriber base shifted in favour of Amazon. http://www.digitaltveurope.com/2018/...er-league-bid/ |
