Overnight changes:
Some strange subscription pack code changes to some of the Sky Sports red button interactive services. Also to an inactive transport stream marker which is not actually linked to any active services.
All have had Sky Sports SD subs codes added, with some additional changes to encryption flags.

Seasonal rebrand with Sky Sports Action channels renamed Sky Sports NFL.

Viaplay withdrew from the UK and some other markets.

Sky have just switched off their Red Button services for Sky+ HD. If Virgin were using these as feeds, could this be why??

I'm sure it was just a re-brand back to Premier Sports as Viaplay own Premier.

Viaplay sold the UK Sports operations back to Premier Sports (SSBL Limited)
https://www.viaplaygroup.com/news/ne...siness-2217740

Reportedly much less than the £30m they paid to acquire Premier Sports UK in first place.

It wasn't ...and they don't. But, OK, if you are sure. ;)

Correct, but that is a wholesale arrangement rather than retail. Good to see that the content is available again though.

Presumably, he got it from Sky service monitoring reports on other forums / sites. I've seen similar comments on discussion groups.

Yes Premier Sports bought the channels back from Viaplay who did own the channels at one point. It was still technically a rebrand.

Premier Sports, which continued to operate channels in the Republic of Ireland, will rebrand Viaplay Sports 1 and 2 under its own banner, while also releasing an “enhanced” streaming service. Viaplay subscribers will automatically be transferred to the new platform.3 Apr 2024

It was a change of ownership in the context of the original question about "the same old company just rebranding over and over?". In terms of what happened on Virgin TV, both for the changes to and from "Viaplay Sports" the services kept the same ID number. So in that context it was a rebrand, or as UKCTVC defined it at the time, a "relaunch". Rebranding in the ROI was a slightly different scenario, where Premier Sports continued to operate throughout in its own right, just as Setanta Sport continued to operate in the ROI when it went into administration in the UK.

It was not on V6 boxes around Mid July.

Re: Virgin TV (2024)

I only spotted the Rakuten TV had been added to my V6 box yesterday. Funny they can add a new app that most probably don't really want, but they won't add Disney+ and Paramount+ and prefer to use those as a carrot to encourage people to do the 360 'upgrade'.
