Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
What's with 'register for the free Upgrade' as shown on http://www.virginmedia.com/myvirginm.../timetable.php,
Should it not be automatic? |

So there's 2 parts to an area being done, 1 uplift date for registrants and another for non-registrants. The date referred to on the website is the info for registrants. |

just phoned VM they told me that i was upgraded on thhe 11th may, but the modem still shows as 2MB, so they passed me through to the braodband help team who told me that the upgrade was a free thing and that it would be a few more days until it was completed, not happy with this i asked to speak to someone else, a rather nice lady called Veronica came on the line and to cut a long story short, im now on 10mb.... So if your not sure dial 150 take option 4 then 2 then ask.... Thanks VM and to you guys and gals on this forum |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I got upgraded from 10MB to 20MB and saved £2 off my usual bill. Something about being a loyal customer, since I had been with them for over 10 years, since the Nynex days. However as we all know, it's not 20MB all the time.

Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
Last week, got the letter with the number to phone for modem ordering.
Phoned up, and the nice lady took some details, then said I needed to do it online. Queried that and said what was on the letter, and she said I already had a modem. No I don't, it's all through the STB, and I had a new one of those - oh! Spent a while on hold, and then she came back having sorted out the incorrect code (more difficult because of the loyalty discount). Anyway, I'm now due a modem install - I thought they were done as self-install kits? Reminds me, I need to get hold of another surge-strip or add another block or strip, since the 6 way is already more than full. Is the modem a mains plug lead, or a plugtop PSU to feed it? |

Mine came as a self-install kit but that was because I was was replacing an existing "stand-alone" modem. If you are having an STB modem replaced the job is more complicated as that would require a new splitter and length of co-ax cable to be added to your set-up. I also seem to recall other posters having stated that the installer may need to play about with the connections in the street cabinet to achieve a suitable signal level. |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
I Had a marketing leaflet address to me from VM to say that there would be an increase from 2mb to 10mb and I can register to speed it along. When I went onto the register link there was nothing to say it will cost any extra. I rang the customer service who then told me it would cost £2 more, I then emailed a complaint to VM to say the leaflet is misleading and they emailed back to say,
------------------------------------------------------ I am sorry that you feel the marketing literature is misleading. I have had a look at it and i understand where you are coming from. I have sent an email over to our marketing team giving them the feedback on it. Virgin Media understands that not all customers wish to go ahead with this change and want to go back on to their 2mb connection for £18, so if you wish you can go back on your 2mb service and a £2 credit will be applied to your account. -------------------------------------------------------- Now I have received my latest bill and guess what I have been charged the extra £2 even thou I did not ask for it or register. Now just to let you all know that after speaking to the customer service today it seems we are all going to be upgraded to the 10mb even thou we were not told and the extra £2 will be added on and you will not know until you get the bill. So if you don't want the upgrade it seems you MUST let VM know. |

The speed change is a seperate program - but again that everyone on BB M will eventually get by October, whether you register or not. This is why you get a seperate letter The reason the speed increase letter doesn't mention any extra cost is by the time they have been sent out the price change will have already gone through. So the speed increase DOESN'T cost anymore than the price you will already be paying! |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
AS ALWAYS More and more differant versions from VIRGIN on there flyer there is
no mention of increase even though we all new it . My area upgrade still not done even though i registered there dates are about as useless as they can be . TONY FARNBOROUGH GU14 GU1 AREA (MAY\JUNE0 What a laugh |
Re: Upgrade from 2 - 10 meg
And again, why do they need to advise of a price change that has already happened and of which you would have already been advised two months before?!
As for the dates - what would you prefer? No dates at all? |
