It's actually free for the odd piece here and there. Just inconvenience mainly as it'll take 7-10 days to get the replacement .When kits cost a few hundred quid it's just really annoying.

So my health and ability to look after myself has become more of a problem recently so I have had to make the move and try to claim PIP.

I have always avoided it although on paper I should be able to claim if it was done fairly but it is not. The idea of an assessment and the inevitable need for a mandatory reconsideration and then tribunal causes me anxiety just thinking about it, but I need help with mobility as I have not been able to go further than my front gate this year (and pretty much the last 3 years apart from the odd appointment) and also could do with some help around the house and garden.

It is not really the money I need but the extra support that would come available to me if I manage to claim it

That is one of the reasons I am applying for PIP. I need a large one and I also will need a ramp fitting so I can keep it secure. Without PIP the council will not do it :)

All I can say is back up everything you say with evidence, as much as you can get. And use sites like BenefitsandWork for guides on how to fill in the forms. Unless you already know and understand how those forms work that is. If you answer their questions literally, then there's a high chance you'll fail. Well worth going for it though, so good luck.

cheers bud.

I fully expect it to end up at tribunal. TBH a reasonable person just needs to look at me and see me walk from the chair to the room to see the score but you know the assessors job is to give 0 points even if the claimant is almost dead

One key point in your case, is that ask for a home visit for an assessment. You might need help from your GP with this. If you can make it to the assessment centre then you most likely automatically fail.

Yeah I was aiming for some sort of home visit or video call or whatever. It will be ages anyway apparently

Wrestling on the sports channels, when it clearly isn't a sport, but scripted crap aimed at the brain dead.

I sincerely empathise with you Jay as I am more or less in the same boat, however I am lucky to have Mr T, who is now having to do most of the chores I used to do apart from cooking. Also I have a shopping trolly with basket, and this has given me a degree of freedom.

My moan for the day is the plumber phoned to say he can't come to fit our sink till Tuesday.

When filling in the forms, make sure you put how difficult things are, as my wife (who used to be a DM before she retired) said that too many people tried to be "brave" on the forms (it’s not that bad), and they have to score on what’s on the form (there are QC checks).

tldr: better to over-egg the pudding - put your condition(s) and abilities on your worst day, not your best.

Just had yet another another scam phone call purporting to be from bank security, to notify me that there had been 2 unusual requests for payments from our account. The first was from Amazon for £300 and the second for £1100, to sort this press 1 on your phone to speak to security.
