Any ideas what to expect for new channels next year. Any channel contacts up renew

We know that some Sky channels are coming out in January. Some speculation about how many - only two are absolutely confirmed.

Apart from that, take a look at Media Boy's recent update.

My guess is that VM made a final offer and said take it or leave it and LFC declined the offer. After taking a look at their Sky subscription figures they realised that they needed VM more than VM needed them and accepted the deal on the table.

As it appears that Sky were involved in the decision to make the channel a Sky exclusive, it looks like they have compromised and allowed the SD version onto VM.

I doubt that the HD variant will arrive for a very long time, if at all. Still, Sky actually compromising is unheard of :D

7 quid for a channel! unless they've got a LOT more content on there its nowhere near that amount.

silly boys

Agree it`s far too much for 1 channel. Shot themselves in the foot in my opinion.

It's aimed at enthusiasts who are not very price sensitive. They wouldn't get many more subscriptions if they charged a fiver. Saying that, the web version is a fiver.

I told my friend about it who is an avid Liverpool fan and he laughed at that. Said maybe two or three quid he may have done.

are you den??? i've known you for many years now on here and didnt know this! well straight fromn the horses mouth! not worth it the customers say!

i think eventually football rights will be purchased individually by each club. i see this being about 20 years or so to be honest but it'll happen one day.

10-15 quid a month to see all your clubs games would be a nice price. but as a more neutral fan (newcastle at heart) but i enjoy seeing other teams play. For it to be sold on an individual team basis would make it very expensive for people like me to watch random games :(

I believe the christmas shut down has begun now and there wont be anymore channel launches or changes after all the radio changes??

Was also told on Sunday that LFC TV & Sky will soon be advertising promotional prices to try to help with the dreadfully low number of subscribers on their platform.

There are "no current plans" to extend this to VM, but (in my view only) I think it will eventually take place on VM if not too many sign up on VM. I don't think they will if a much larger platform like Sky can't attract customers and that they will offer promotional pricing in the following month/s on VM too.

Manchester United and Chelsea charge £6pm so this looks like the figure Liverpool should be charging. Certainly not £2pm and certainly not £7pm. I suspect these two clubs will raise their prices next year to £7pm and Liverpool will stick to £7pm.

Why? I can't see many people choosing which to subscribe to based on price.

In other news, Nollywood Movies has launched on channel 835. It's a standalone subscription channel at £6.99.

I've heard of Bollywood, but not Nollywood! Take it it's an asian thing.

Going back to LFC TV, it wouldn't surprise me if they started doing free weekends to entice potential subscribers. January will be a lean month when everybody has spent up and their credit cards bills start arriving.
