Or for £4.99 per month get access to SKY Atlantic via NOW TV. Much cheaper than paying between £20 and £30 a time on boxsets.

Agreed, but there's the media and the media. Broadcast Now, for example, are a respected media organisation and I have no reason to doubt their reports on this.

Had I read this in the Daily Express, I would not have given it the time of day! They were still going on about the Princess Diana conspiracy earlier this year, day after day! You have to pick and choose what you are prepared to believe.

Well it appears you've picked and chosen a pup...

Think HBO shows will end up on virgin, just because with sky losing sport to BT. They can keep shareholders happy by selling their programs to virgin and maybe talk talk and BT.
Also sky pays 30 mil a year but with other companies looking to buy as well then sky may have to spend double that a year to keep it.

I'm a fan of Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, The Borgias, The Following and Hello Ladies. I'm looking forward to Fleming and True Detective whilst my wife is looking forward to Penny Dreadful.

I don't actually watch SKY Atlantic live. I tend to record everything so I can skip the adverts, or watch the programs via SKY catch up. I can say in all honesty I watch more programming from SKY Atlantic than I do from channels like ITV or SKY Living.

You just reminded me of a show that i have on my list of shows to watch lol , penny dreadful any idea when that starts mate?
I find myself also just recording stuff or using the catch up service more than ever on both sky and vm. Might sound daft but i record the same programmes on vm and sky just incase one buggers up lol.

I can't stand watching 'live' TV, too many adverts.

Not sure when Penny Dreadful starts, my wife is the one to speak about that :D

They were still in denial and saying every movie comes on sky 12 months before Netflix. So merely mentioned Hansel and gretel witch hunters , hunger games , the hobbit a unexpected journey. They looked rather sheepish lol.
They say anything to gain/keep a customer it's the same with any company tbf.

That would be because she is right. Sky Movies get them around 12 months before Netflix on SOME MOVIES. The ones you have mentioned, Netflix get them 12 months before Sky Movies. However saying "VPN" does not change anything as she is only going by the UK Netflix.

The dates I remember are:

Sometime in October 2012

9th of December 2012

1st August 2013

Sometime in December 2013 along with SKY 1+1, SKY News HD, SKY Sports F1 HD, SKY Sports 3 HD, SKY Sports 4 HD, SKY Sports News HD, Channel 4+1 HD, MGM HD, Sony Movie Channel, News 18, Universal HD, Disney Channel HD and Disney XD HD.

Call me a doubting Thomas but am I the only one that see's a clear pattern here? :p:

There has certainly been a lot of speculation on here previously about Sky Atlantic coming, and I admit that I was one of them. This was based really on the presumption that the exclusivity to Sky customers on satellite would only last for about a year and that Sky wouldn't keep forking out so much money for the programmes on Sky Atlantic with such a small audience.

The fact that they have continued to have this expensive loss leader for so long is very surprising, particularly as they will have milked it for all it was worth over the first 12 months.

The current prediction about Sky Atlantic, however, is not just down to speculation. It is based on the positive media reports that Sky and Virgin have been in more constructive talks and both now have an air of realism about this. The two companies are co-operating much more now, as evidenced by the recent multi million fibre deal as an example, and Sky are really keen to get the new Sky Bravo channel onto the cable platform. Add the Liberty Global takeover and the Sky/BT spat to the mix, and the media reports that a deal was expected in the autumn all sounds very plausible to me.

You can all believe what you want, but if you prefer to listen to Sky Customer Services employees and vague 'insider' information which is probably not worth a dot, then knock yourself out! Whilst the media can be a little OTT at times and sometimes make too much of very little, I would rather go on information from media reports than from these other 'sources' which just seem to be leading everyone up the garden path.

The Fibre deal was with VM Business and probably not linked to VM Consumer though. The speculation that thay are talking more is probably due to the fact that Tom Mockridge was CEO of News Corp and is now CEO of VM.

There are actual discussions going on according to investment houses but not regarding SA its more around current deals and content on mobile devices I am led to believe. I too would like SA but this is what I have heard.

Boxsets last for many years and they are your own to watch when you want to.

I've not signed up for a new deal with SKY yet. If Virgin come up with their own 50% off for 12 months deal in the next 2 weeks then I'd certainly consider it. It has happened a few times this year already:

An HBO subscription in the US is typically an extra $15-$20 on your cable bill for 7 (advert-free) channels plus the HBO-Go on-demand streaming service. They have long-established deals with cable companies and I can't see them making anywhere near as much by getting in with Netflix.

Totally agree and I've said the same many times , HBO will stick with the traditional pay TV operators in my opinion.
