Hope you and nash get well soon, i'm trying my hardest to not to come into contact with the winter lurgies that so many of my virtual friends seem to have at the moment. No way do I want to have to go into full isolation again and wearing strings of garlic is sooo 'last year' don't ya know.

As for my boots well they are bright cherry red but <<big sigh>> I can't wear high heels anymore, <<big cry>>. I don't need my sticks anymore but my dodgy balance makes walking in heels a high impact sport. :D Still it has given me the excuse to buy lots of new shoes and boots with 'safe' low heels. YAY

Not beer.

The wholesaler increased prices by 21%, that means the retail price would be OVER the Minimum Unit Price that hasn't even started yet.

Some retailers have cut their mark-up, but mine joined others in refusing to buy it at that price.

I have a lot of Hue lights, but these are way over priced. I do use these though as they are a better alternative (Price wise). They are a godsend for our hallway.

ESTA check (passed, phew...) for our trip to Florida in March - did it in advance, as if there were any problems, you have to go to the US Embassy for further discussions, and there can be a six week wait for appointments (and they don't care if you trip is before that).

Better safe than sorry.

Several prototype printed circuits (PCBs) 2 layer and 4 layer with Newbury Electronics "PCB train" service for a client.

Not cheap but they are reliable and the quality is good. They can do a one day turn round but that really costs so I've get them on 10 working day to help keep the price down.

Everything is done on-line and if they have a query then it's usually resolved by e-mails.

In my kitchen I have white/cream/grey stripe cabinet doors so have gone for a light grey ceramic floor which goes well with the dining area which has pine furniture.

I guess what I am trying to say is that you would be safer thinking about what colours would go best with whatever colours you can't change in the room(s). Laminates come in a massive range of colours and effects so take some colour swatches with you to a show room. Much better than asking us lot. :D :D :D

Four tyres for the Colt CZ1. Not too special: 175/65 R14.

Got them for a very Christian price of £239.96 Balanced, fitted and VAT included.

Local specialist supplier that I always use. They also provide support for local motorsport teams and there's often stacks of slicks and specials in the workshop.

One less thing for the MOT man to fret over on Monday.

A Philips Hue Motion Sensor.

Set it up in the kitchen, so when I walk in with hands full they lights turn on and turn off 2 minutes later when I've left.

I just need to tweak the day/night modes and set it so that in the summer the lights wont turn on during the day.

I just use a layer of aluminium foil which covers the whole of the inside of a nice wooden box.I also did the same with my wallet. It's a lot cheaper and just as effective.

Of course other more expensive solutions are widely available. :)

Bluetooth earbuds for daughter's unbirthday pressie (for each child's birthday we get the other an unbirthday gift, usually just something small - started so they would have something to unwrap more than any particular gift). Not the best probably but not going to spend what Apple want or any where near that. If she likes the design and wants better quality, her birthday is later in the year.

The trust put in a new kitchen about 2 years ago in our place and 10 days was about the time we were without the kitchen.

My OH alternated between takeaways and going to the supermarket for those 10 days.

Re: What have you just bought?

The lighting under which you view the comparision will affect how they look.

Pigments react differently to the light they are viewed under so try to use the same type of light that you have in the room where you want them. IE. If it's warm LED or daylight then try the match under the same.

I remember this effect when I replaced the wings on a red car and sprayed them from an aerosol can. Under daylight they were an ideal match, under sodium street lights (yellow, almost monochromatic) they were obviously different.

My Blu-Ray & DVD collection is now 1,011 titles which is made up of 2,129 discs (The box set above is 1 title).

Two 15mm ball isolating valves and some spare 15mm olives in B & Q.

My sister had the plumber in a while ago to fit a new main stop cock in the downstairs toilet and when he saw the wash basin didn't have a trap he disconnected the whole lot and cut and capped off the pipes to the taps. The basin drain goes straight through the wall into the yard gully so not having a trap isn't really a problem.

I'm going over on Thursday for lunch and I'll fit a proper trap and reconnect the tap supplies with the isolators to make changing a washer easier.

I thought I ought to get the parts sooner rather than later in case the whole country gets locked down harder.

Back when I first bought this computer (secondhand) I went for the late 2012 model because it was just about the last Mac Mini Apple made with expandable memory slots. Since then they have soldered memory to the motherboard.

Same with the iPad Pros - they have to break the screen to get into the gubbins; non-maintainable.

My son's girlfriend MacBook Air battery started to bulge (it was a 2013 model, and apparently this is quite common on models over 5 years old) - it was a morsel of micturition to remove the battery and replace with a looky-likey battery; probably wouldn't be able to do that with more recent models.

FastFret - to clean guitar strings.

Funny how quite a few people - who now have time on their hands - are picking up guitars they haven't played for ages, giving them a clean, maybe a re-string and quick set up, then finding that a little more practice is required again because of stiff finger joints and forgotten chord patterns :D

Re: What have you just bought?

Chord patterns I remember - fingers ache and to need to rebuild callouses. I have sheets of warm-up exercises, scales and the like (spiders anyone). Space is more a problem, family spreads out over house all day.

We're staying in Titusville the night before, so only about 10 miles from there, then about an hour's drive to the Airport.

Just got a refund for these, as well as for the AirBnB's we had to leave early/not visit - so that's useful.

Just got to try and claim back the extra costs of flying back early from the Insurance company - should be "interesting"...

my hands get dried out but a quick application of baby oil sets them right.

I know we don't have a baby but the oil has many uses. :D

A pack of 4 toilet rolls. :hyper::hyper::hyper: We were getting dangerously low. Last thing we wanted to do was the single sheet with the hole in the middle. :erm:

Wise move

I've noticed an increase in online spending from wife & daughter in the last week alone, gawd knows what weird and wonderful things they'll spot in the next month or so . . just 'because they can' ;)

Two large sirloin steaks and 500g of lean mince - I was walking the dog past our local butchers, and they are closing down today (they can't get any supplies from the local farms, as the Supermarkets have taken it all).

I'm in a quandary about whether to order non-essential stuff for home delivery.

Will my purchase help support a seller and a delivery driver (plus all in the chain)?

Or will my purchase expose the delivery driver (plus all in the chain) to greater risk of infection?

I'm seeing a lot more deliveries happening in our street recently.

All delivery drivers are instructed to either ring the bell or knock on the door then put the parcel down and move 2 metres away Taf.

Quite a lot of people have to self isolate and that in itself will mean far more shopping is sourced online plus many parents are at home with their children and given that they cannot put their grandparents at risk by them looking after the children more parents are having to shop online.

I paused my SkySports and BT Sport subscription, and decided to buy an Amazon Fire 4K stick with the money saved. I placed an order for the firestick on the 27th at £49.99, it was delivered yesterday. Today on the Amazon site it's been reduced to £29.99, so I contacted them and asked them if they could offer me anything as a gesture of goodwill. Straight away they applied a refund of £19.99 to my debit card. I wish other companies were as obliging and easy to deal with.

I’m glad to hear they did that for you. I’ve always found their CS excellent (and I’ve had more than a few free Prime membership extensions in compensation for really rather minor issues).

However if you buy as much from them as our family does, you begin to spot the regular oscillations in price of their popular tech items, especially the Echo/Alexa enabled stuff. I’d never buy anything from that range at full price because it always goes on sale 2-3 times a year, often with up to 50% off.

I’m guessing your sports savings are enough to fund Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ for at least a couple of months. I’m happy to recommend all three of them. Apple TV, however (which I seem to have as a free bolt-on to my Apple Music student subscription) has thoroughly failed to excite, with the single exception of the alt-history Apollo moon landings drama, For All Mankind, which sadly stopped after about 10 episodes.

Used to use CamelCamelCamel to watch prices but now disabled (in Europe) to help load but on some items I was looking at clear that there were huge price rises in last day or so and many of those items (exercise) are out of stock or hugely more expensive.
