Reina has indeed become a poor shadow of himself this season and this is his 5th mistake of the season so far so as well as needing a CB a GK is required as well.

Something that's going to go on for some time.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21319807

Claims one match was fixed in England.

The fixed Champions League tie in England took place in "last three or four years";

Manchester United
Chelsea
Arsenal
Liverpool

Unfortunately it has to be one of the clubs listed, not looking forward to it being revealed.

Haven't had time to read through all the details so no idea what time frame this is in.

In my opinion based on not knowing the time frames, the most obvious suspects are.

Manchester United
Chelsea
Arsenal
Liverpool

others being.

Leeds United
Blackburn Rovers
Newcastle United
Manchester City
Spurs.

Unfortunately it has to be one of the clubs listed, not looking forward to it being revealed.

If I had a guess I'd put my bet on Chelsea vs Barcelona at Stamford Bridge, the night the referee had a very suspicious and shocking game.

The match fixed was 'in the last three to four years'. So it cannot be the Chelsea vs Barcelona game.

It will have to be United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool, Spurs or City.

Was actually surprised myself and after posting I actually thought it was a longer time ago too. That's my bet at the minute but again it could be a simple group game in which the English team was already through.

Example being, one of the teams listed intentionally lost their remaining game because they were already through to the last rounds, losing to a much lesser team, so any ring betting on massive underdogs would have made quite a bit of money.

So many possibilities but it'd be even more destructive to the club if they threw a game in the knockout stages.

Damien 04-02-2013 14:19

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

It's very unlikely to be at club level. I.E A whole club throwing the game. The risks are too great and the reward too small for the club themselves, getting kicked out of the Champions League costs a lot more than winning a betting scam.

It will be an official or player who are told to help the bookies' favourite team win.

I won't rule it out but it's very unlikely:

1) Far too many people would have to be in on it. You don't want to increase the amount of people aware of illegal activity unless you have too.

2) The cost to Napoli of leaving the Champions League or being caught and expelled from the Champions League dwarfs however much you'll get in a betting scam. The risk/reward ratio is out of balance.

3) If you're the one organising the scam then why involved an entire club when you can just have one player do something dodgy.

Everyone's running the Liverpool vs Debrecen story now.

Person in question is the goalkeeper Vukasin Poleksic. Supposedly the betting involved would have seen 3 goals in the match so it's hard to understand what actually occurred as Liverpool only scored one. We'll be waiting a while before we get anything set in stone.

Thats how bad Liverpool are, they can only score one past a goalkeeper trying to let in three :)

That's his point. Moyes does well with a small budget.

I don't think it's a fair point as Wenger clearly over achieves relative to spending and either overachieves or mets the target when it comes to wages. They all sort of end up where their wage bill says they should, including Everton.

thenry 05-02-2013 18:12

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

top managers do better. Moyes is in that. Fergie well he's laughing at Arsene really. Wengers dropped off, simple.

---------- Post added at 17:12 ---------- Previous post was at 16:49 ----------

Chelsea and City spend more on wages than Utd. then comes Arsenal. City have recently risen so for the sake of this argument lets remove City so its Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal. Utd have consistently challenged for the title throughout the reigns of the billionaires coming in throwing money around. Arsenal have dropped off. Utd have invested. Arsenal haven't. Utd invested to get out of the huge debt they had mounting. Fergie delivered the goods after that investment. Utds stature and rep increased = more revenue. Arsenal have not had investment as heavily and when they have invested within means the players have dropped off. Fergie would not take some of the crap going on at Arsenal where players are not performing, pretty much half a named squad doing nothing? thats disgraceful. and if you want to look at wage spend work this one out, total up the resources those offering something are taking and you'll probably see our wage spend decreases so yes your right Wenger is overachieving. hes not overachieving if your looking at total spend.

Damien 05-02-2013 18:23

Re: Football Season 2012/2013

Arsenal did invest, they built a new stadium. Manchester United haven't invested in their debt, that concept makes no sense. The debt was put onto the club by it's owners to finance the purchase the club and in the last few years they've managed to reduce it via bond issues and the stock floatation. That isn't really investment. In fact United have 'invested' little. What they've done is continue thoughout using their massive revenue which has always been much higher than Arsenals.

United's income, wages and transfer spending are all higher than Arsenals. This isn't because 'they invested in their debt', it's because they've got a much bigger brand than Arsenal. Yet we've made inroads there, we're much more international since Wenger arrived. His era Arsenal team have gained massively in Asia and Africa especially. Only Liverpool and United are bigger names.

Anyway we know you think Wenger has lost it and I don't. No point rehashing the same argument again.

Arsenal invested in a new stadium and have reaped the rewards in increase of revenue.

Utd did bond and all but they had repayments to make, that was clearly worked around so investment could be made into the team. Utd are a cashcow I know but please remember that has increased a lot due to the success Utd have had. The continued back to back cup wins done them no harm at all.

I don't like listening to this guy but Balague: "Mourinho won't be at R.Madrid next season. The club is already talking with new coaches. PSG are the favourites to get Mourinho."

will Roman take him back?

On the matter of the special one l think there is a reasonable chance he could return to Chelsea as Ancelotti will still be at PSG next season.

Yes indeed Hummels is a very good player and a move to a top european club is very likely.

Can't see de Jong going for anything less than £10M tbh and that's if Ajax would actually let him go. They'll no doubt already lose Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen in the summer as they can be signed on a pre-contract although they'll probably move immediately for a fee rather than run their contracts down.
