BRING ON THE BOOZE

Well done!.

Anyway, on to my happy thought..

Yesterday, I got a rather paniced call from a lecturer. One of her students was suffering chest pains and had trouble breathing, so, being a first aider, I went to see him, suspecting a heart attack.

Immediately I got in the room, I called '999', and went through the symptoms with the operator. I didn't think it was a heart attack (he wasn't showing all the symptoms). After a few minutes, the operator said that an ambulance was on it's way, and I'd get a call if they needed any more information.

15 minutes passed, and a Ambulance turned up. I went flying down to the security desk to report what had happened, and escort the Paramedics upstairs. Unfortunately, another student in a lecture theatre had had a major seizure, and they were here for that student.

Unfortunately the Ambulance never turned up and the student called his mother to take him to A&E. A&E took a look, and advised him to go see his GP for blood tests.

My boss spoke to him today, and thankfully, apart from having to have blood tests, he is alright. It sounds like it was just a severe panic attack.

Well another day in hospital today......

And I went to the doctors yesterday to get some more results and now I have been referred to hospital for two more things that are 'wrong'.

Still that just adds to the rest and I'm getting my money's worth out of the NHS while I can :)

And in other good news the last confirmation class was great, getting confirmed Tuesday. It's great.

Just solved a problem with a site I am developing at work.

It should have taken a few minutes, but the solution managed to elude me for a couple of hours.

Anyhow, looked at the code tonight. After a few minutes, I noticed a misplaced variable declaration, moved it to the correct place and the page now works.

Not sure about pictures as no photography is allowed during the service but maybe a 'fake' one after with the bishop....

The service starts at 7.30pm and will go on for a good couple of hours I should think :)

Ok, I shall be thinking of you from 7:30pm and, all being well at this end, I shall raise a glass of red wine to the new you at 9:30pm. :D

Now I am off to the Hospital to do battle with a new Consultant. Feeling quite optimistic that I shall win this one as one of my other Consultants is on standby to come and back me up.

Thanks guys. I feel a lot better already. https://www.cableforum.co.uk/images/...2012/05/29.gif

Just a little growl as a result. Why oh why don't doctors read your notes as none of what happened to-day was necessary, it wasted a lot of time which could have been spent sorting out the problems of other patients.

Just found a bug I've been looking for for hours on a site I am upgrading for work.

The site uses a PHP script with Ajax to return an array of dates. Couldn't get this working in IE (although the PHP was returning dates properly, and the code for processing them was correct). The problem? The data sent back to the browser's Javascript interpreter included the word "Return". "Return", when used in the way my code had to to access the returned data is a reserved word in IE, so is not available. IE did not tell me this..

Anyhow, once I worked this out, it was easy to force IE to change the word in the data to another (not return). Lo, and behold, the page works now. Just needs a little tidying and a lot of testing.

Wehey, back online after having no Internet for 4 days. Engineer came out Monday and replaced both the OR Modem and the hub, everything was working when he left. I went out and came back at 4:30 that afternoon, hub displays a solid orange power light. Tried a restart, power down etc, no dice, engineer turns up this morning, manages to get it working, but then it drops the wireless so I restart it. Same thing again, so luckily he bought another hub in from the van, which I connected up and so far so good

Glad to hear it MG.:tu:

You should get yourself a mobile broadband pay as you go dongle for the times you can't get online, they work a treat if you have signal.

Job security for another three years, after nearly a year on rolling contracts of just a couple of months each, some of them part-time. My current contract was to expire in two weeks time.

Woot!

Well, I could have explained in detail what I was doing, but
  1. It would make the post long and boring.
  2. It would take the post off topic.

My happy thought.....

See this is why I get confused with Linux.... All I did was use synaptic to install a screensaver on my Pi... Now when u start it up it's using the gnome desktop environment - nice for sure but I have no idea why that happened.

Still a happy thought as I prefer it better than the default one.

Steam train Carl? I assume that was what you meant. An old friend of mine worked in the Loco Shed on The Watercress Line. We went there for a day trip about 7 years ago. He was employed there before we met and I met a few of his old colleagues (partners in crime, allegedly). Although he was quite infirm by then, we were allowed in the cab and shovelled some coal into the firebox. Absolutely an amazing day and sadly one of the last times I saw him. Really a must to do before you go.
