Re: BMR When?
Actually it's the 2000 (same architecture as the 1000 but with more RAM and a faster CPU) that's been commonly regarded as the best box to have. I don't really know why this is. I'd certainly go for a Samsung if I had the choice.

Re: BMR When?
i have a 4000# box on excwc and have never had this problem, but mine outputs its audio to the tv directly and i have no amp.
perhaps you are amplifying it too much. the volume on AV (cable) is lower on my system than the normal tv channels. maybe its just me. frosty |

So like you say, although I have no problem with the point being raised - why should I - there's no need for it to be brought up in nearly every post. garyparsons - like others have suggested to you in this thread, and I'm pretty sure I have done before, why don't you just switch providers if you're this unhappy. If you really are so annoyed with them, then surely you have no reason to stay  Browneggsandham :) |
Re: BMR When?
if that's your answer to these things then as i've said before, why don't you keep it to yourself as it's not a proper answer. i have no intention of using someone else.
i'm happy with everything else i get off ntl, phone, broadband but this issue with the sound is beyond the joke now. |

Re: BMR When?
It's not the box.
Before MR1, sound was fine and dandy After MR1, sound was screwed That kind of eliminates the box. Not hard to understand. Saying that, it must be cos i've said it countless times. |
Re: BMR When?
And, as I've said countless times, of course it's the software, and all Pace boxes will be affected.
However, the Samsung boxes use a newer software build which does not have the problem. |

Why is that so hard for you to understand? But, as I have said countless times, you have two choices. Wait for NTL to download the updated software (which does apparently work around the problem) or replace the box with one that is not affected. Seeing as NTL have not announced dates for the download, it could be next week, or anytime within the next few months. Given your problems with sound levels, I personally would ask for a new box. I have just taken delivery of a new Samsung, and, based on first impressions, I would say it's a far superior box to the Pace series. |
Re: BMR When?
scastle, what surround amp do you use?

Re: BMR When?
how is it wired to your cable? Do you notice the popping in the center speaker?
|
Re: BMR When?
Well, as stated before, I now have a Samsung box which doesn't suffer from the problem, but it used to be wired to a Pace 1000, via the Stereo Audio line out phonos. I have used IXOS cabling to connect the two. I don't use the video switching facilities of the Amp at all, so no video signal is routed through the Amp.
I didn't notice too much popping, but then I tend to watch TV with prologic decoding turned off. IMO pro-logic decoding just causes too great a loss of quality with a non-prologic encoded program (especially with music). If a program does offer pro-logic encoding (like most films, and some dramas), then I turn it on. The popping on the centre speaker was noticable, but not too bad. |
Re: BMR When?
One year on and still no cure. I'll be collecting my pension soon..

Re: BMR When?
wait...wait.
it IS coming soon... i am beta-testing the next software for bromley...so soon. :) (i can say no more!) |
Re: BMR When?
I don't know if you can answer this or not - are the constantly updating the BETA software with bug fixes, or are you just testing just the one build?
Browneggsandham :) EDIT: ps if they ever do this beta testing again, I'm going in for it, 'cos I can't stand not knowing!!! |
