Just rang NTL at 10:57am
They say the service report team haven't even looked at my problem yet
I will have to wait 48 hours

Looks like I'll have to get a 56k modem for my main system since it's the only way I can connect to ftp, ssh or https

JANooB is aware of the problem - I spoke to him about it on MSN yesterday - but he wasn't at work. He said he would have a look today.

I can't ftp or collect emails from one server with the NTL CM but I can
with a 56k modem using NTL 1p/min.
however I can ftp, collect emails etc with the same NTL CM no problem from
another server that I have.

NTL say that DU's use different routes to CM's
so to my mind it has to be an NTL CM routing problem
yet other people less than 1 mile from me using NTL CM same flavour and my
mail servers
are not having any problems.

what the NThelL is going on.

this for me is the first major problem I have had with NTL.
I didn't consider the web proxy issue much of a problem since it easy to switch them in browsers but I can't think of a work around for this.

Um, I never said he fixed it - just that I spoke to him about it yesterday and he said he'd try and have a look today and pass it to the NMC if necessary. :)
