Re: Unlimited downloads from January?

People actually payed for broadband plus? Its 99% stuff you can get free elsewhere anyway- and its all DRM'd to the hilt so completely worthless.

Havent had an email yet but I'll consider my 2meg cap free then!

Does anyone know if the people who were put on 512 unlimited are allowed to change to these new offerings?

Re: Unlimited downloads from January?

Its nice that NTL has seen some sense and removed the cap for most of the services who needs 10meg download anyway .

Seems to be back to where it started unlimited

Nice to see all the hard debate on this forum and anticap has been worth it

Someone has at least seen sense (have they made Bill Goodland redundant is that why its changed)

Re: Unlimited downloads from January?

When wil NTL provide a cable soloution that people actually want and have a need for?????

Why cant they just offer a decent broadband option, say 2Mb:1Mb.
They should realy advertise it as unidirectional bradband, whats the point of having 10Mb download speeds if you are limited to a pathetic 512kbps upload or less.

Give me 2048/2048 unlimited any day of the week over 10Mb/0.5Mb.

Looks like there will be a whole heap of people 'downgrading' to 2Mb just to leech 500Gb a month. Maybe with all thier service level tiers we will be able to hide a 'custom' config file once more....

*prepares edited conf file*
2Mb/512 no caps here we come...

They already do. The vast majority of people don't have an insane desire to download the entire internet.

I guess you don't know much about how cable (or adsl) works then ?

A whole heap ? - somehow I doubt it.

or maybe not since that's illegal. Any more posts on *that* subject will be removed.

i havent read the thread but i thought 1mb and 2mb were being upgraded to 10Mb but with lower caps?

Re: *all* ntl Cap Discussion (part 4)

IF this is true, then I'll move back to NTL in the new year, I'll have to leave my phone with BT for 12 months though.

Had NTL thought this through though, they wouldn't have lost my (and others) revenue for 3 months, I would be MORE than happy with 2mb unlimited and the price isn't bad either. Well done NTL:

An Unlimited 2mb service is nice. However, the maximum you can get out of the 2mbit service is far higher than the cap on the 10mbit service. I think they should reconsider the caps for the 10mbit service too.

£24.99 - 75gb
£29.99 - 150gb
£34.99 - 200gb

I'd prob go for the £24.99 or £29.99 level.

realistically even with 2Mb constant P2P you dont go much above the cap on a regular basis. Sound like you cut off your nose when you moved

Nor do I but 15-30k/sec uploads is not realy broadband is it? It doesnt take much to eat up even 512kbps with a www server, streaming radio and maybe a couple of video feeds going out. Not to mention game servers.

I guess you don't know much about how cable (or adsl) works then ?
I know enough to know that the network is capable for far more than 15k a second. It seems silly to have an extreme downstream and a very small upstream. I dont want 10Mb SDSL but if many coutries in the EU and the US can manage 1-2Mb uploads why cant we?

A whole heap ? - somehow I doubt it. There are enough people here and on other site moaning about caps.

or maybe not since that's illegal. Any more posts on *that* subject will be removed. That last comment was ment to be a touch tonge in cheek, as I have already had 'conversations' with NTL over this in the past. I dont recomend defauding NTL either not if you dont want to be prosecuted.

With regards to Telewest, maybe people are right that NTL are trying to bring both companies services inline with each other ready for Easy.Tele.NTL.Virgin.monopoly

Are they still going to upgrade automatically the current 2m to 10m or will it be optional?

Can we choose to stay on the 2m and get unlimited?

Magic 8-ball, what service levels shall we offer today?

Well they may not know what they're doing, but offering 1mb and 2mb unlimited services is a step in the right direction, and for that i'll praise them for doing the right thing. Personally i'm hoping for 3mb unlimited at 37.99, but i'd make do with 2mb for 24.99. :D
