And so ends one of the most embarrassing episodes of British political history. Without irony, ITV News just ran a piece on the death of Berlusconi with faux outrage at points acting as if that type of leader oozing cronyism and corruption couldn’t happen here.

In a way you can’t really blame Johnson, he’s acted entirely rational and with self-interest throughout. His allies rail against the “Establishment” without irony, when if it wasn’t for that establishment, what school he went to, what university he went to, he’d be absolutely no-one. No newspaper columns, so puff pieces on the state broadcaster about the affable buffoon on Have I Got News for You.

I do blame him. He's single handedly screwed the country, with his 'getting things done'. But he and his few knighthooded buddies will be all right. The rest of the riff raff can do one as far as he's concerned.

Buck stops with the electorate, they voted for this fraud and they must now take the consequences, for decades. Those that didn't and saw through him, bad luck.

He didn’t do it single handedly - there’s no reason to give him credit he doesn’t deserve. He served his paymasters at the Telegraph, friends who orchestrate loans for him because he’s a financial risk, and potentially foreign intelligence services well as their puppet. Not to mention the dark money that flows through the Conservative Party coffers.

The country is indeed screwed, however that goes back decades of economic mismanagement, generating inequality and the circumstances that made it easy for Johnson to rise up.

If you want to blame one man for Brexit you might as well blame Nick Clegg. That idiot tipped the first domino.

He was already elevated, he is my co-patriot frog now!

"Sir frog daddy Johnson" he was just taking the piss.

Privileges Committee has found Boris Johnson knowingly misled Commons after rejecting central defence

MPs found no evidence to back his claim he was assured by officials that Covid guidance had not been breached - in fact they found opposite

Thing is the people that worship the likes of Boris and Trump, will see this as a badge of honour.

To many voters lying is clever, denial and personality is everything. Blame everything on 'the Blob', 'Big state' etc with no evidence , they'll love it.

I'm all for an IQ test before you're allowed to vote.

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be."

"And oftentimes excusing of a fault doth make the fault the worse by the excuse."

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

"One may smile, and smile, be a villain."

"I am one who loved not wisely but too well."

"Don't waste your love on somebody, who doesn't value it."

And my favourite...

"I dote on his very absence."
