Well. That’s rather nice of them.

That's the best tribute from a foreign country yet I think

France are our closest neighbours and as a population do admire the queen a lot.

I have had lots of my french family express their sadness and thoughts about the queen this past 24 hours.

Maybe some regret what they did to their monarchy haha

Heard something interesting on the Channel 4 coverage today.

Apparently, when those in the armed forces pledge an allegiance to the Queen, this doesn't stop when they leave and is for life.

I wonder if this allegiance is carried forward to the new King or if they are now free to make their own choice?

I doubt anyone else wonders.

I wonder if we'll be told what she passed away from or will we only find out in decades time. The rumours suggest she's been terminally ill for some time.

The state apparatus pretended she was alive for hours, if not days. Us plebs should stay in our lanes.

I've seen claims that she had bone cancer.

If correct, this would explain her mobility problems.

As soon as the broadcasters went into 'Obit mode' I knew that she had passed. , even though they were still talking about her bring very ill.

This was said to have been done to 'ready the nation' for the announcement. I also think it might have been done out of courtesy before all her family were informed or had arrived at her bedside.

The way that the 'In poor health' announcement was phrased is also said to have been a coded message to the BBC who will have been the first broadcaster to have been notified.

It's just idle curiosity as to how it all works really, though this could be important to ex service people who no longer supported the royal family in whole or in part.

I'm not sure if anything could/would be done to those who fail to maintain their allegiance after leaving the forces though.

Nothing about heirs, successors, or indeed just to the crown regardless of the head underneath?

I did chuckle today at the phrase 'Demise of the Crown'.
