Talking to my old boss (now my subordinate) who lives in St Paul there's much more to come from this yet.

The police precinct that was torched yesterday was only two blocks away from our office. MSP has changed significantly in the past 10 years/ it's now one of the most prominent locations in the US for tech outside of Silicon Valley. It's was turning into an amazing place

I'm surprised at this as the police i used to stand around talking to at the Hewing hotel when i was jet lagged and having a cigarette at 3am we're very friendly and always had time to chat.

Lovely place MSP even if you have to get used to 'Minnesota nice'[COLOR="Silver"]

What is driving the protests? I have been following this today and it's one of the few times where everyone seems to be angry at the police and believe George Floyd was murdered. Even Trump wasn't defending the police on it. Right-wing media in the states were saying he was murdered.

Is it just an expression of anger?

So, the guy was originally arrested for passing a fake $20 bill. In a store at 30th & Chicago (which is not a great area) this type of stuff happens all the time.

He was either drink or high at the time of his arrest, There was some degree of resistance unsure if it was verbal or physical he was maced and then at some point later cuffed.

What’s we are only seeing now is the footage of three police officers kneeling on his spine (reversed angle taken from a restaurant)

People are angry because the original behaviour whilst wrong had happened in that area for years and this time has been totally overreacted too.

The store owner is actually paying for the guys funeral.

There’s Humvees all over the place, sirens are blaring all over the city center. Major concerns that this could spread out to places like Minnetonka


Bizarre behaviour all round for what is probably the most liberal state in the US

Just seen on the news the officer kneeling on his neck has been charged with 3rd degree murder and manslaughter

Which still carries a potential MAX 25 year sentence.

I watched the clip earlier today, the 4 cops did nothing to save that man.

Truly harrowing footage. Regardless of the original crime no one deserves to die in such a manner

I'm afraid his main crime was having the wrong coloured skin.

It's a bizarre country, still obsessed by race. So advanced in some ways, but so backward in others.

An AR-15 round is about 28 cents I believe. Americans buy 1.3 million AR-15s a year. It might be police brutality this week, it’ll be another good old fashioned school shooting the next. Crazy, crazy country, sending spangly new rockets into space one minute and then slaughtering each other the next.
