re: [MERGED] Utility companies - price rises
Oh for gods sake not the tired old "reopen the mines that will sort all our problems" like it did in the mid eighties when their union drove the industry into the ground. Opening old coal mines is not the answer to any of today's problems and most of my wider family worked in the nottinghamshire mines and all of them are now dead as well from illnesses derived from that industry. We need to look forward for our answers not to some rose tinted bygone time and that's one of the problems in the UK the nostalgia factor can be crippling.
Arthur i recently agreed loosely with one of your points you can when you try make a semi decent argument but these rants are not it. Your complete inability to recognise that it isn't only this government that has royally screwed us is annoying putting it politely sometimes and whilst this government does have things to answer for you raise none of them. |
re: [MERGED] Utility companies - price rises
I actually agree with Arthur... opening up Minefields and getting the unemployed to work in them will indeed reduce the number of unemployed.
My hat is off to you Arthur,a very cunning plan.THAT'll sort 'em out!! ;) |
re: [MERGED] Utility companies - price rises
Soon it'll be cheaper to keep warm by burning £5 notes.

re: [MERGED] Utility companies - price rises
Not sure how it works exactly but some energy suppliers have a scheme for those on low income, disabled or over 75. Something like a rebate at the end of a year of paying or something like that. Not really useful for those that can't afford it in the first place but may help some towards the year after if it is a debit on the account. They don't seem to advertise it or make it easy to find for obvious reasons and I doubt those who can't afford fuel will be paying for internet so they can find it on their websites.

Only pensioners get the winter fuel allowance.

Re: Bad news everyone SSE to raise energy prices aprox 8.2 %
I'm with British Gas on duel fuel.
I'm paying £92 month. Switching to Npower fixed Nov 14, it will be £81 month. so if British Gas put it up 10% it'll be around £100 month. so I can save around £20 month by switching. trying to get a quote on BG's site, and it's impossible to get any figures. they're just quoting me the £81 I'm supposedly paying already to Npower. they won't tell me how much they're charging me. They've finally give in and told me. it's between £97 - £102 month. that's fixed Nov 14 and March 2016 |
Re: Bad news everyone SSE to raise energy prices aprox 8.2 %
"£X per month calculations are often far from the truth. You need to find the cost per kwh (and standing charge per day if the tariff works like that). Then you have to figure out what the "discounts" actually mean (£x for paperless billing might actually mean £x off at the end of a full year). And of course, make sure the figures include VAT! Then make sure you take account of any account closure fees.
The "simpler" tariffs are far from that IMHO, all smoke and mirrors... and worse. |

Nationalise it back to how it was!! what folly to have to 'shop around' for electricity and gas - its the same **** that comes out of the wire and pipes so shut the f*ck up about tarriffs

re: [MERGED] Utility companies - price rises
Isn't it like petrol where it cleans your engine whilst you drive?
I'd say my electric was nice and sharp at the moment. but I expect that to change when Npower send it to my house. |

It's ok, I've checked it all.
kwh, VAT, standing charge, and cancellation fees. I just want to be one of the many that tell BG to stick their energy up their bum. |
