Looked to me like you were talking about backhaul being removed

Highlighting the relevant part of the two quotes you used:

Seems clear enough...

Yeah, I'm saying there's a distinction between removing VM's equipment and removing backhaul stuff. As in, removing one does not mean removing the other. I'm saying that backhaul is NOT being removed. I don't know how I could have been clearer on that one.

So VM are abandoning off-net and removing their equipment but they are not removing their equipment.

Makes sense.

You seem to be the only person getting confused by this. I'm giving up trying to explain it further.

From the 2 quotes with red highlighted text above, I dont see how it isnt confusing

To me it reads that VM were looking to start offering their service to FTTC people aswell as ADSL but after the deal with BT they pulled their kit out.. and that's the end of the plan/matter

If I have got that wrong I don't want to know as that makes sense to me so that's all I need to know

it's a great shame, but would have been better to have put their money into their cable to get rid of this horrible STM surely if they knew they were stopping national

It is a shame. By having FTTC, VM would be present in the other 56% of the country they can't reach with cable. They'd have been able to play both ends against the middle, albeit with quite a haul to capture FTTC market share. As I said earlier if there was too much uncertainty to offset the cost risk ......

But based on the fact with FTTC they could upgade on demand they probably wouldn't have had STM on it and if so it would have annoyed us cable customers who still get it.

Or maybe i'm wrong

Anyway agreed it is a shame.

What about paid TV though? I'm guessing that was the extra that Pierre suggested was planned but can't see how it could have worked with the twisted pair final leg.
