What's the best way to input a live feed into a vision mixer then create a direct connection to playout for best quality in a live outdoor streaming environment like a football match? I see also that being unemployed gives you a distinct "advantage" to pay a lot of money for a sports packages. |

I have looked into reducing my package, however it seems that I already have multiple discounts. I have been told by retention's that if I changed my package in anyway, such as removing sports, or sports and movies my bill would actually go up! It appears virgin have me trapped as any change in my package except leaving would increase my bill. The main reasons I would/could not move to Sky are; it would cost a fortune as I have x3 boxes, the best BB speed is slower than my mobile and I hated loosing TV in bad weather. From the first batch of matches on BT I'm not missing to much of my teams football, but unfortunately I am also a Rugby union fan, so gutted about that. Sorry for going on a bit, I'm new to forums as a whole never mind this one and thought it was an interesting question you posed. |

I've voted for staying the same at this time. I'm gonna give it till the PL starts before i make a decision.
I'm out of contract on all 3 services so can cancel anything at anytime. |
Re: Have you changed/cancelled your account since ESPN closing?
Wow! Is all I can say.
Just phoned up to cancel, had an argument with the lady about whether BT Infinity is at my address or not. It definitely is. She said that from using cable.co.uk (not the BT ADSL checker then?!) my address can't get infinity. I've just gone onto cable.co.uk and without a BT phone number you seem to have to click on more options and then the infinity products are listed. She swore blind I couldn't get infinity and said that Ofcom have approved cable.co.uk?? Pretty pants website then if it doesn't clearly give the right information. When I asked her if she could check BTs ADSL checker lo and behold, she can't access it. To be honest, I thought that was pretty bad. Trying to mislead someone to keep hold of them. Also she would only let me cancel my TV service which I've definitely done after that conversation! Has anyone else managed to get out of their broadband and telephone in contract as well? |

I'll give them their due, Virgin could have made things difficult for customers looking to cancel their services. Instead they seem to be making it very easy. |

i have heard the Vertical Interleave Switching routers it do not even have any delay. Or minimal, much less than 1sec. And will cut between sources almost entirely cleanly. That is why I have chosen that for our scenario, as you asked for "best" (subjective, and all this can be affected by the individual talent of the mixer and the producer, and how they have set up their equipemnt). In my mixing setup I would ensure i had enabled my 4 channel hardware controller, which would act as a direct connection to the playout. Obviously being live tv, a manual approach with the playout is required because the automated playout AI can not take into account overlaps of half time, delays etc. So a manual handling is required instead of timecodes, which are usually fine for non-live television. As far as me being unemployed, i come from a family with access to lots of money. So while i wouldn't say I am rich personally, (i only have a few K in my savings which is nowhere near enough for somebody who loves money, live football, and nights out as much as me, i am fine when it comes to living in my families mansion/food/shower everyday. I pay money in to live here to cover my minimal costs of shower, gas, tv license. So I am ok to have all the latest sports channels and tech. it's not just me who watches the football either, although it is me who pays. it's a necessary essential for me and my life. so more than worth the money. And obviously because i have plenty of free time to play games (can't WAIT for the PS4, and have already paid for mine), i obviously need lots of TV to watch as I'm at home alot when I am not out with mates or enjoying the nice weather, talking to a few birds in clubs. Despite that I expect to be in work again before the end of the year, I would be in work now if i hadn't of been fired. And am considering suing them after september once i have talked it over with my solicitor. |
