Please do not do this.

I understand where you are coming from, my apologies.

No but there's several others offering free WiFi across the country, if not across the whole world... More useful than the tube if you ask me.

And any of these companies in any way comparable to VM? No. Probably not.

With BT, Talk Talk and Sky TV services you do get to own the box (PVR) which can be used on Freeview or Freesat if you no longer subscribe to their services. So,unlike Virgin Media, you can have a contract and then own a PVR worth a few hundred pounds rather than having to return their rented TiVo or V+ box.

And, because it's your box, you also pay for any servicing required. Which of course you don't with VM.

It's like fish-in-a-barrel, this is :D

And when it goes pear shaped you have to pay for it. Or if you have a fault you pay £65 - more than any of the price rises from what people have posted.

But the reality is it's unlikely to go pear shaped as PVR's are pretty reliable.
If you're that concerned it will be covered by a warranty anyway for at least the first year.
You can also buy an extended warranty for less than £65.
By comparison most TiVo faults are the result of signal problems rather than the box itself.

Sky, O2, BT not comparable?

Clearly off in your own dream world again...

Well I wasn't aware that Sky had them; BT is far bigger than VM, as is Sky.

No. Just clearly not quite thinking straight :)

Can't get my head around why VM don't change their offering. They are the only company who can offer broadband and over the top TV without a phone line - its a huge differentiator between them and their competition

Dishes get knocked out of alignment though and there is a cost to sort it out

Can and do, from £39.50. So what was your point?

Also... "over the top TV"?

Top Banana is meaning why don't they push it more as many people are sick to the back teeth of constant line rental increases no matter who your provider.

Examples of Over the top providers are Netflix , Lovefilm , Blinkbox , Acetrax etc.

That is exactly what I meant muppetman but some choose to make posters look like numpties as they think they are superior. That's me being polite, if I typed what I really think I would be banned.

Decipher that carl

ISTR that VM did/do intend to move into that market; which is another reason they went with Tivo as it works with that system.

No attitude at all Carl but you may want to put yourself in the shoes of the receiver from time to time. Then you may realise how you come across as its not that endearing

Someone's only been back a matter of days and the bickering, bold type, rolling eyes and refusing to accept others opinions has started again. So threads will start going down hill quickly from this point on.

Cheers

Grim
