The only mistake you have made is assuming that you will be able to stream *anything* that you have recorede box to box, the actauly channels where the Box to Box streaming will work are listed here.

HTH :)

Thanks for that, I hadn't seen that 'View Full Channel List' tucked away at the bottom of the page.

How disappointing, I won't be bothering to set up MRS until the list improves dramatically!

Whats the real the benefits of streaming? I only ask this as i already have a box in every room and dont see what all the fuss is about.

Streaming of your own shows from your own Tivo I can understand, and want. But I wouldn't necessarily want to watch anything live ;)

'If' all channels' content was available to stream, then with two Tivos, you would have effectively 6 recordable tuners and a potential of 2TB recording capacity.

The other advantage is that you could start a film in the lounge, and if it gets late, pick it up from where you left off, when you got to bed.

That 'If' turned out to be a bit 'iffy' :)

But that is not what MRS is about anyway, so irrelevant.

Unless you record all your programmes on every box, then you have to go to the box you recorded it on to watch it, with Multi room streaming, you simply select the box and pick the programmes from the list just as if you were in the same room as it.

I can't quite understand why VM need to get permissions from individual channels to implement this.

Is it not effectively the equivalent of olden days taping something and then playing it back on another VCR in a different room?

You could be correct. I thought it was different premises.

All those years of breaking the law and not giving a hoot. ;)

Was really excited when I heard this was live, but the channel list is a huge disappointment. I didn't think it was working at first so many padlocks everywhere. It's exactly one year since I got the boxes talking to each other and I've patiently waited while VM sort out the rights and the networking issues. The end result is the have a web page telling me to use home plugs like I had setup a year ago and rights for the minority channels. Odd that they've only got some of the BBC channels too? It works well for the channels where the rights are sorted, let's hope they get more channels sorted soon as this is a fantastic feature if they get it fully working.

The content providers are complete idiots. They can hardly have missed the trend for content anywhere of multiple devices. So what do they do? Put obstacles in the way of people who are prepaired to pay. Meanwhile, people who don't pay, download shows to a NAS to stream content to any device and watch it anywhere they choose. Now that is illegal, but the content providers blinded thinking is effectively causing more and more people to do it. Crazy.

Odd. I have 2 TiVos, which can 'see' each other via the various network/MRS screens, but can't 'see' each other via the My Shows screens. I swear I had this working on Saturday and nothing has changed within my network since then. Both TiVos are connected via homeplugs. I have no trouble seeing both TiVo from the TV Anywhere site on my laptop.

Any ideas?

Go into "Change Network Settings" and ask the TiVo to request it's IP address again from a DHCP server (first option in the settings).

I had this happen after the latest software update. Must have been something to do with a restart caused by that update.
