I dont know, but i do know the whole thing gad been one big debacle/fiasco/joke

On the subject of gateways, i was doing some googling earlier on in the week and i dud come across a couple if Cisco residential gateways but they were $180. Some of us are willing to pay for decent routers though so why not offer shubs for free and Cisco equipment for £100 (cant be arsed to look up the exchange rate). I would pay for it.

Neither Be or Sky *force* you to use their CPE and only their CPE though. In Sky's case the modem is separate and you can use whatever router you want (granted, it's difficult to find a compatible one) and in Be's case, you can use whatever modem you want as well. In fact many users have succeeded in replacing the modem on Sky Fibre with their own as well.

I have been provided with the very latest sky hub (sr-101) and my connection uses mac encapsulated routing (MER) which requires the hard coded and encrypted sky username and password to be extracted and used to hack a 3rd party Router to enable it to connect to the BTO modem.

To date no one has been able to crack the sr-101 so ATM the only way to use a 3rd party router is to piggy back it onto the sr-101. This what I am using ATM and it seems to work well. Much better that using the sr-101 on it's own.

As for Sky "forcing" subs to use sky's supplied equipment, well it is in the T&C's although to date I am told it has never been enforced.

Had my internet installed today and I also got told that there was in fact a new Hub being released.

Its good that I kept hold of the VMNG300 because I will eventually need a new Modem when more DS channels kick in !

As the has been one getting released for the last 18 months and firstly the Superhub mk2 failed in testing and Superhub mk3 has sunk without trace, do not believe anything until it is in black and white on their website as a fob off is as good as wink in the Virgin Media world.;)

fairy nuff

On the VM forum, someone mentioned August 2013, so i think its safe to say anything about the new device is merely rumour, and the bad info techs have been giving customers is a fob off based on such rumours
