Re: Are you a Royalist ?

Sky News and, to a slightly lesser extent, BBC Television News have been quite dismissive and patronising towards Republicans over this weekend. I was watching Sky News yesterday and they stopped just short of open derision when discussing them. There was no attempt to present them as anything other than a bunch of crazy mean-spirited lunatics. I am not a Republican but you would expect news organisations to cover them fairly, they may not be a large minority but their views are hardly outlandish or out of order.

Credit to BBC Radio (5 Live and 4) who seemed to be canvassing ant-Royal sentiment alongside the pro-Royals and not doing it in a mocking fashion.

Republicans are all at work mate. Refusing to take holidays to celebrate Royal occassions. Too busy to watch the TV so the broadcasters can fawn over the remaining viewers:D

Seriously though, even the most resolute republican shouldn't even attempt to give a soundbite on a weekend such as this.... no matter how valid the point is, it can only come across as PARTY POOPER. ;)

yeah, it wasn't bad. there were some cringeworthy moments including Cheryl Tweedy but hey the Queens brought us altogether :)

Who's Cheryl Tweedy?

That William was useless. he didn't even sing with Stevie Wonder.

I would yes. but I wouldn't because I just know she'd want to sing to me eventually ;)

I didn't catch it all because I was putting the kids to bed.

Who was the older lady who helped Gary Barlow on near the end?

Did they do a duet?

Gaffa tape blocks the mouth though.

I suppose she could always breathe through her nose :)

Didn't watch any of the Jubilee stuff, but I did watch Prince Charles' speech to the queen.

When you watch the Queen, she seems so....reserved? Rarely smiles or even acknowledges praise, or the collective cheers from the crowd.

Always found that a little odd.

I know. it is a bit disappointing when she doesn't smile in acknowledgement sometimes.
she must come across as a right misery to outsiders watching.

I've had the unfortunate experience of hearing Cheryl singing (Good Daddy, spoiled daughters.... blah blah).. my ears may not be tuned to the torturous noises that emits from the attractive Geordie but I'm pretty sure they can't be coming from her mouth. If you want to stop her singing to you I'd try Gaffa on the nostrils first. (Other industrial tapes and orifices are available)

Anyway it's time for me to take of my Geri Halliwell dress and become a republican again.

I hope it does come from the nose. if it transpires that it does actually come from the mouth, then I'll have to find something to block the tonsils.

then seal it up with the Gaffa or other brands that are available.
