<yorkshire accent on> Ae, when I wer't lad, we didn't have none of them fancy telescopic sights - we had proper rifles, then, like SLRs, which could knock a man down at 1000 yards (you couldn't see them, but if they got in the way, they were in trouble)<yorkshire accent off>

Yep, I joined up in early 1990, still had the old L1a1 and it's the first rifle I ever stripped down for a job.. Though not the first firearm I ever shot... ;) I was 8 when I first shot a .357 snub nose, though it did have a reduced/rubber round in it as the neighbour kept complaining that his old garage couldn't cope with any more holes... Oh the joys of being brought up in a gun orientated culture ;)
