Seems like Ade has put more effort in to this game than he did for the whole of last season for us.

We`ll see, trouble is your never going to `break` into that elusive top four unless you do throw money at the squad. Your obviously an Arsenal fan and a bit worried that if Fabregas goes as well it could be you guys who miss out.
All the top teams have at one time or another splashed the cash to create a basis for going forward, you won`t win anything with kids.....:D /sarcasm

I'm worried even WITH Fabregas! Wenger needs to add to the squad.

Arsenal got and stayed in the top 4 without excessive spending. Liverpool did pretty much the same, most of their spending happened whilst in the top 4 and United got to where they are now without spending rubbish loads.

It's wrong that all the top teams have done this and only Chelsea have come near the stupid spending Man City have and they at least had quite a few players they brought up (aka Terry).

It would be sad for the Premiership to basically be a league table of the rich. Thankfully that is not the case as Chelsea's lack of consistent success shows. Man City better hope they achieve their owner's goals before he gets bored and leaves. Leaving the club with a unsustainable wage bill.

Like he won't be replaced with A Eto-esque player eventually. The only reason Man City isn't a World XI is because there wasn't enough time to replace all the players and some players were difficult to obtain.

It's the reason I don't think City will be in the top 4. Their defence is not up there yet. Fair enough they may get Lescott and their chances will improve.

Man City reminds me of Football Manager when you'ld get bored and construct the best team possible. Anyway, the point is the big clubs have a lot of their talent coming though their youth system. Especially United. So it's not down to big bucks.

Yeah, He needs another defender. Hopefully Gibbs will be ready for some games this season without falling over :D

Man City are top of the table. Granted it's by virtue of the fact their name is above Wigan, West Ham and Stoke. :D

Russians have the best voices for Villains, we've been far too well conditioned :D

To be honest I don't even see Arsenal as 'top 4'. Their blip as a successful side ended several years ago, they came from being also-rans and will (if they have not done so already) return there soon enough.

Yes there's a spare 'top 4' space going but I don't think it will go to Arsenal or Man City.

Excellent 5 - 0 up against Everton away so far. If it remains the same that is not a shabby a start to the season. A great way to start the difficult run in.

Man U were breaking transfer records every year before Chelsea came along and Liverpool were none to shabby when it came to splashing millions either, I don't have a problem with them or City, well I do but not with their spending, they can only play 11 players at the end of the day and the more teams we have competing the better our league at the end of the day.

United and Liverpool got into those positions without excessive spending was my point. I don't think United splashed the cash much until later on in their dominance. How much did the treble winning side cost? (Of course adjusting for the difference in overall spending between then and now)

There are warnings in other clubs, Newcastle and especially Leeds, of how financial overreaching can cause problems. City are fine since their exuberance is being backrolled by a ambitious chairman but the fans should be wary of the stability of the club in the event his cash flow stops.

Wooo 6 - 1! Shame about the late concession but 6 - 1, away, to Everton. That's a nice start to the season by anyone's standards. Just improve the defence Wenger.
