If that is connected direct then it looks like the is an issue on the connection as your upload is more or less what you should expect but your download is way to low, have Tech Support given you any reason for this at all as it does look like you will need to call back preferably during normal office hours.

Re: 50 crap down to 3meg CAPPED

heres somthink i found in another thred am i right in thinking VM slow you down if u use giganews????

Try the Giganews speedtest.

http://www.giganews.com/performance.html

Talking of Giganews I wish Virgin would sort their act out with regards to Giganews, my route to it goes on the following path:

VM Mortlake -> VM Croydon -> VM Poplar -> VM Amsterdam -> Giga

Nice and smooth and costs VM nothing as it's done over peering.

The path back is:

Giga -> Cable and Wireless Amsterdam -> C+W London -> C+W Leeds -> VM Leeds -> VM Poplar -> VM Croydon -> VM Mortlake

So either someone's messed up something or VM are intentionally using the Cable and Wireless link to ease loading on their own Amsterdam link, which is costing them money as they'll be paying C+W for the transit.

could this explain why i can only download at 4.5meg instead ov 50mb from giganews????

Oh please...

Yeah it's something personal against the UK, they can do 120Mbit/s+ to everywhere else but clearly have something against VM. The VM 50M product has no faults or speed issues due to being thrown together and dumped onto the network, the rest of the Internet is at fault.

im on 50meg and was the 1st in the area and ever since ive had it if i download alot i get capped to 10meg they tried to say it was the modem power lvls so i had 2 engineers out who both told me the power lvls were fine and that they do can u even though they arnt ment too, but on a side note if u pause your downloads for around 20mins the speed goes back up. :( i dont understand it and virgin meadia all have no clue. other than that im very happy with my connection.

You are not being capped as there is no STM on the 50meg product. You are suffering from some form of fault and i suggest you get back on to them about it.
