Phew - bit of flame war there! Anyway - back on topic then...

So you've installed an illegal version of Vista have you, you naughty schoolboy!

Still don't see the point of the Aero interface - granted it looks nice and all, but the only useful function is the thumbnail icons in the start bar...you can keep your 3D flip, and transparent windows thanks Bill!

Nick is right (for once)- you can essentially add any vista install onto any PC using a DVD by not entering a product key during setup.

It essentially lets you install a 30 day trial of Windows on the PC, this is intentional, so that you can test it for things like compatibility before activating it.

I wipe them about the same time period anyway, but I use the same thing for virtual machines - install Ultimate, without putting a key in, then wait until the 30 days is up - for testing new applications before I install them on the main PC.

For your average user it's NOT easy to use and it'll never take off in the home desktop market, sure people have been saying for years that it will, but it never materialised.

And if you can't get Vista running at a reasonable speed with your spec of machine, I'd stop spouting about your skills because in the consumer workplace, they don't exist.

As said before, use google, you will find endless amount's of people complaining about how slow vista runs, even on very high end spec'd machines, it is also a problem IT firms seem to be having trouble with, just this morning i was called out to a place which had installed vista business edition, and it was SLOW, And pretty much nothing worked properly.

Again, as i said, vista, is just xp with a new gui, a rather poor network stack, audio stack, and a kernal which is bloated like hell, if your happy with that's fine, its people like that, that keep me, in my job.

Linux not easy for the average user?

Are you calling the average user extremely dumb then?

Are you saying they have a really low iq?

You must be, because linux is very simple to use, if the person actually chooses to use his brain and read up on something.

I'm sorry that you, have been spoilt by windows with simple "yes, no" prompts.

Ah does anyone remember back in the day? when you actually needed to have a brain to use a PC? oh those days was fun!!!

Right seeing people can't behave and keep the thread moving along without resorting to 'My OS could kick you OS's head in' comments I'm closing the thread.

The original point was resolved many posts ago and despite a warning some people don't seem able to behave
