Re: School stands up for discipline and rules
Hey coogy I aint a rebel, and if you must know me and my twin were swots at school!!!! Sorry to burst any bubbles you have of me!!!!
I think that is why we both have done well!!! I thought there would be the odd person to say 'hey it isnt right'. I would not dare use a phone in works hours, I use my mobile in the loo if I need Paul. My job is unstable all the time so I darent risk it! |
Re: School stands up for discipline and rules
OK, I've been away so missed all the excitement and 5 pages is too much for my addled brain to work through right now so....apologies if point already made but what is more important: what's inside someone's head or what's on someone's feet?
Frankly if that is all a school's got to worry about then lives need to be got in the classroom. |

I can also say that the end result of someone not wearing the right pair of shoes is *IN NO WAY* comparable to an act that could end up with someone's death! A sense of proportion is a simple concept too... |

Back on topic, we all have the right to break rules if they are absurd or restrictive. It's up to society to decide whether the rule breaker or the rule writer is in the wrong (usually, of course, it's the rule breaker and a jolly good thing too, but the right is important). For example, one of my teachers was a prominent poll tax rebel - he made a decision to disobey the law (along with thousands of others) because he fundamentally disagreed with it (along with thousands of others). Eventually society decided that in this case the rule writers were wrong and the tax was scrapped. Mind you, with teachers like that no wonder I turned out a liberal - that's not even mentioning the prominent union activist, the Marxist and the SWP member. And now the place is a 'college' with a 'principal', specialising in science, an Investor in People and has a Sportsmark or some such. And they've abolished the three houses they had when I was there. Going to the dogs, the place is *mutter mutter*. |
Re: School stands up for discipline and rules
What a complete bunch of jobsworth to**ers. There was absolutely no need to send this person home just for the sake of a pair of trainers - esp when they appear to have said nothing on previous occasions. Why do you need to wear a uniform for exams anyway - you don't have to attend school the rest of the time.

Agreed but they have rules - you cannot choose when to obey them.

Not all choices that we make in life turn out to be the right ones, accepting that we made a mistake and were at fault is a better way of dealing with the situation than complaining to the media about a situation that we created for ourselves in my opinion. |

And if it is deemed acceptable, surely that would lead to disobedience, lawlessness and eventually anarchy? Maybe extreme but we have enough chavs who think they can do what they blooming well want to, and I for one will applaud the teacher and the school for sticking up for the rules. Whether or not the rule is silly... personally I believe it is but then we had to have the same rule (in fact, we were told if we pratted too much before going on leave for A2s the school would stop us taking the exams full stop!)... well, that's a completely different argument. |
Re: School stands up for discipline and rules
My son's school has a great new rule at his school. A card to carry on you at all times. Pionts deducted for being late , shirt button missing tie loose ect. 12 Points and you get a detention. Does this remind you of nazi's??."Papers Please". The school has turned to the Darkside. The teachers now have become power crazed. I have allready had a little chat to the headmaster. I did call him a few names. I did ask him to meet me outside the school to have a nice little one on one. But he declined my good generous offer. I even had a chat with The Board of Governors over other issues. The whole place smelt of raw sewage. The headmaster has his wife and even his daughter teaching there.
The School says it benefits the community ect. The school is a joke How sick is that????????????????? Very:sick:          |
