That's over a week ago and doesn't tell you how old your definitions are. Is there any other information in the help, about box?
Try downloading the updates here

Can you burn cd's on the pc that has internet connectivity or do you have a usb key or something that you can copy the file from the link in my above post? It's 7.5mb.

It may not solve the problem but at least you will know you are clean and nothing else is getting in the way of the connection establishing.

Re: Connection problems

Not unusual as it will be checking with the router for connectivity, but those numbers should no be changing very fast if you are not trying to use the network

Lets go back to basics then, ignoring the router. Has this PC ever been directly connected to the internet, broadband or dial up?

what's involved with reformatting?

MovedGoalPosts 02-06-2005 20:40

Re: Connection problems

Reformatting - a complete reinstall of the PC software. The hard disk is wiped clean and then you reinstall windows and all it's software.

Before you reformat, make sure you have backups of all the data (but then you have that already dont you :erm: ) as you will want to copy that back on, and the installation disks and settings for windows, all the add on hardware drivers, togehter with other programs you have used such as the antivirus, wordprocessor, games, etc.
