it will be hard for villa to get someone better then oneill and they might find that a few of their top players could well be for the off now imo.

He took them as high as possible and didn't have the backing to maintain that position and certainly not to improve it.

I doubt it was over Milner. The situation has rumbled on so long and the situation was well known. If the situation was causing friction something would have happened sooner.

I don't think anyone will be going in and out until a new manager is sorted. Villa are the centre of a lot of pending transfers in and out (Milner, Young out. Keane, Jenas/Bentley in) which can hold up a lot of other transfers now.

It might have been he was told he wouldn't be getting the money from the Milner transfer to spend on new players?

I'm sure we will find out soon enough though.

nows the perfect time for lerner to sell some players ,while they have no manager.
these yanks are more interested in money than football.

However it happened, who do you think will step in?

I doubt Jol would given all the fuss over the Fulham approach.

Can't think of anyone else available who would at the level Villa are at. Leaving it this late means everyone else (Hughes, Grant) have already signed to other clubs.

Come on, Lerner is different to "these yanks". I'm not a Villa fan and even I know that. He has been exceedingly generous and sponsors a local charity for free.

Selling now would be great if you need players off the wage bill but not if you want to attract the best managers. I'm sure Lerner is in the latter.

I gave up paying attention long ago, and any article from The Sun, News of the World, The Daily Mail, Goal.com, Tribalfootball.com etc claiming blah blah blah about blah blah blah, i know 9 out of 10 times is nonsense. Half the time they're not even logical.

When official statements are released or players are posing with scarves or shirts, it's interesting. Anything prior to that is just tedious.

I disagree, agents, rival managers and clubs themselves use the media all the time to either bump up prices, see if a player is interested in a move to their club etc etc there is no need to make anything up.

real shame for Villa and I thought MON was doing a great job. if only they could have kept hold of a few players and built on the team they had a chance of breaking into the top four and doing it in better style than City are trying to do
