The same weaknesses of the 08/09 season hit them last season and would likely hit them worse this season. He took them as high as possible and didn't have the backing to maintain that position and certainly not to improve it.

I don't think anyone will be going in and out until a new manager is sorted. Villa are the centre of a lot of pending transfers in and out (Milner, Young out. Keane, Jenas/Bentley in) which can hold up a lot of other transfers now.

Selling now would be great if you need players off the wage bill but not if you want to attract the best managers. I'm sure Lerner is in the latter.
