After a long period where nothing much happened, this has now been added to all networks and, consequently, has had encryption added. It has also moved from internal channel 1890 to internal channels 70. Internal channels aren't visible on customer boxes, so this remains a mystery.

I don’t recall knowing ITVBe’s +1 was even on VM.

I noticed a couple of weeks ago that the U app was on V6. I knew it had been announced but thought it was further off. When did it get added? Couldn’t have been much before I noticed.

If you look at name it become Greyhound racing.

When launch viewers can watch Greyhound racing via the RED button on Sky Sports Racing HD.

So you can watch the full card of Greyhound racing when Horse racing is on.

(The Red button Greyhound racing on Sky Sports Racing HD is on Sky right now.)

The name is still GreyHorse but not very important for a red button channel as it won't show on the EPG. Channel 70 is in the range used by red button channels, Sky Sports Active used 50-59 and TNT Sports use 65-69, 74 & 79. Other than those, the 2 digit range is mainly used for internal services, NVOD Adult/Sports channels etc. The 4 digit channel number series seems to be used for placeholder services for channels no longer broadcasting and for inactive pop-up channels. Info from UKCTVC.

Good spot. Second time that an app launched on TV360 with much fanfare, has subsequently been made available on V6 very much on the quiet. Not surprised.

Perhaps the intention is to use the feed for both greyhound & horse racing??

Indeed. As I said previously, red button services don't display their service name, so it doesn't really matter what Virgin calls them. I guess "Premier Greyhound Racing" would be a bit long for a service name (I haven't checked the character limit for service names).

Probably unintentional Vince, but grouping those two lines together suggests you think all FAST channels have Pluto behind running them. I’m guessing you don’t think that and it’s just a possible interpretation that could be made by someone else (me in this case).

Do you know if the same name FAST channels on different platforms in the UK ever have different schedules?

Where can people find these, I did a search and can't seem to find what's on after discovering that the films being shown aren't on the Virgin EPG (I remember them trying out putting them on the EPG, but TiVo/V6 tried to record some of the programmes but, of course, was only recording the slate)!

Yes, they can have different schedules. I've seen, say, Rakuten channels on one platform carrying a completely different version or a time-shifted version of what is available on other platforms.
Recording the slate was a V6 bug, TV360 doesn't have the red button / slate.

These channels don't require a "cable & satellite" licence from OFCOM as a broadcast channel would. Also broadcast channels can be recorded, which will lead to the inevitable rights issues.

Tried one of the the Fast Channels as I thought it might appeal, 'British Screen Classics', showing British films. Indeed it does have some decent films but the same few going round and round. No info on the EPG to tell you what's on, can't record, can't pause, can't ff through ads, stream degrading to lower quality at times. If this is the 'future of tv', God help us.

I know World War TV is on other networks.

But to launch on Freeview, Freely, Freesat, Virgin Media or Sky they need an OFCOM License.

I can already get it on my VM box.

People not leaving in the dark ages already have access.

Nearly all the FAST channels are like that - just the same content going round and round.

But then U& channels are the same.

Too many channels - too little content.

One of the best FAST channels I've seen in Universal Monsters - but after a couple of weeks you've seen it all.

Maybe it doesn't matter if its 'homes under the hammer', you want to watch 24/7 ( although if that's the case, I recommend The Samaritans instead.... ).

For films though, it's utterly useless/pointless, e.g. I'll watch the final half hour now and maybe try and catch the first hour when it comes back round, if I can time it right, and knew the non existent epg !

No, Mr K, the future is streamers. Streaming channels are just a cheap and nasty way of watching free to air TV. There’s a reason I said earlier that I didn’t think they had much of a future. You summed up why I think that very nicely.

I don’t see streaming channels as the future. MB seems to be very interested in them, though!

All Sunday matches will be live so I'd imagine they'll use Extra for some of those.

For thr first three weeks there are two live games at 2pm and only one at other times.

So Sky Sports Main Event or Sky Sports + could carry the second.

thats a bit odd i'd have thought sky would have forced the second match to be at a ridiculous time late on sunday without a care in the world for people working the next day....

thats what they usually do...

should do more Monday night matches they usually stop once European games start.

ozsat 13-07-2025 08:26

Re: Virgin TV (2025)

It is too much to expect overpaid athletes to play on a Monday night and another game either on the Saturday (two days before) or Wednesday (two clays after).

Once there are the midweek cop games happening - Leasue Cup and Europe - fixtures are hard to arrange on a Monday. You only left with a handful of clubs available and the fans of those will not want lots on Monday nights.

It is only in the lower leagues where players also have full time jobs where you are expected to play 2x90 minute games in three days (sometimes two days).

It is said players play too many games - but with a 26-man squad then over playing players is down to the clubs - not the fixtures.

Not a problem , a crowd can be CGI'd . They do it in Football Manager ok.

It’s been a long time since fans going to matches was of more importance than the money from TV rights and betting.

which is why i reckon the premier league are terrified of moving away from sky and doing their own app. They could potentially make more money but you could have people quitting after a few months and no secure money. the premier league love their guaranteed money!

so i think this is right still

La Liga Premier Sports TBA until 2027-28
Ligue 1 Pass Live from 2024/25 to 2028/29
Bundesliga Sky Sports Live from 2025–26
Italy Serie A TNT 2 Live games per round until 2026-27
DAZN All games live until 2026-27
Eredivisie Triller TV Four matches per-week live on Triller TV+
Portugal Liga Portugal Triller TV Live on Triller TV+ until 2025-26

absolutely ridiculous how spread out the football tv rights are now. i'd love to know the ratings for La Liga being on bloody premier sports and i'd also be intrigued to know the ratings of ligue 1. I imagine it can be counted on one hand?

I know its old fashioned, but just go to the match? Who has the tv rights/ your subscriptions is then irrelevant, and you'll see it it in the highest definition possible ( eyesight permitting).
You will of course be supporting your nearest local team , at whatever level, so won't have to walk far...

£60 a ticket nowadays is quite a lot if you say a family of 4 that's £240 for just one match then add into the cost travel expenses, parking, food you could be looking at over £300.

£6 at my local club. Far more entertaining than the Premiership too. It does involve switching the tv off and going outside the front door which is admittedly scary for a lot of the population.

Advert now running on the V6 box saying:

"From 11th August, the U app will be the only way to watch U&Dave, U&Drama, U&W and U&Yesterday on demand.

You can discover shows using Search or launch the U app via your Catch Up or Apps Menu."

This joins BBC, ITV and Channel 4 which have already moved to app only Catch Up.

U&Alibi, U&Gold and U&Eden are not affected.

I wonder if U and Virgin Media has sign an new broadcasting deal?

The UKTV did relaunch on Virgin Media around early August when they fell out years ago.

Will U&Eden move to an higher EPG Channel number?
