All this is saying is that Disney+ won't be integrated as it will be on Sky. So what? Nor is Netflix or Amazon so integrated and we manage all right, don't we? This is Sky and others trying to make something out of nothing.

Anything I bookmark from Netflix or Amazon is included in 'My Shows'. When I look for that programme under 'My Shows', I click on it and it takes me straight in. That's as integrated as we need, isn't it?

The words 'mountains' and 'molehills' come to mind....

No it is saying that you can subscribe, but not on your Virgin Media box - you need to subscribe elsewhere - hence it states "The service will allow you to have access (on your TV if it’s compatible)". No TV is incompatible with Virgin Media, but not all Virgin Media subscribers will be able to watch Disney+ on their TV as they will not be getting it via Virgin Media.

They are instead saying that "You can use it on your phone on the go or separately on your Smart TV and other devices".

Netflix and Amazon only appear in "My Shows" because they are accessed via the Virgin Media box.

Yes, I know, and as at now, that is true. It may not be true in a few weeks.

Don't give up hope yet, they are in talks. My guess is that we may get it when Hayu is taken off in early April.

Well I have it on good authority - via Phunkenstein Sources - that they were in discussion but it all ended it up a rather nasty fight over refresh rate.

As a result both Virgin and Disney were asked to settle their differences by nominating a champion to fight to the death (and favourable contract terms). Virgin chose Richard Branson while Disney asked Johnny Depp however Keith Richards turned up in his stead (nominated as proxy by Johnny) and as we know, Keith cannot be killed by conventional weapons... therefore Virgin backed down and agreed to reconvene talks at a more convenient time.

But apart from that I have no idea when Disney will appear on Virgin Media.

For those disappointed with the removal of 'hayu' from Virgin TV, you'll find some of the programmes on E! and E! HD (channels 139 and 140) such as Keeping Up With the Kardashians. There is also some content from this channel available in Catch Up and Box Sets, but it is restricted to certain customers only.

Well there's still the English version of France 24, unless that's closing too. The French one is probably only closing on VM as there aren't as many French speakers.

Also...

The France 24 app on the English news version currently allows French, English, Spanish or Arabic versions to be selected, it will be interesting to see if that continues.

After getting Virgin TV back in December, I found myself watching hayu regularly, for the true-crime documentaries. I wonder if the app will continue on NowTV or is it just leaving Virgin?

Hayu had True Crime documentaries?! They kept that quiet in their marketing.

Well I imagine murder and true crime didn’t fit the overall image of the service! That being said Sky Crime now carries a chunk of that Hayu True Crime content so it now has a more natural home within the Sky/NBC family - interested to see whether Hayu continues to carry that kind of content as a result.

Good question. I had thought it was leaving VM as it was now owned by Comcast and they may have wanted better terms for it as they own Sky as well. We shall see but you can still subscribe to it on Now TV although neither Sky nor Now TV is mentioned on the Hayu UK website.

I'm not sure how it will work for those on VIP or XL TV packages

I see hayu is being advertised as a subscription channel add on via Amazon Prime, so it will be still available on Virgin TV.
If I could subscribe to hayu via NowTV or Prime, but still be able to log in to each app I would. As I understand, I have to pay NowTV AND Prime to view on each service?

Such as Shudder, has a Roku app and an add on channel via Prime, I couldn't view the app without subscribing again.

You may well be correct, but if that is the case - how do you realise these credits if your next bill isn't reduced?

It's a credit on your account (i.e. Virgin "pays" part of the bill - in my case £26.50). The amount of your bill is reduced by the amount of the credit and your direct debit adjusted to take only the reduced amount.

On your bill it's included in the "Usage Charges" as a credit adjustment rather than under the package cost as a discount.

If so why the heck arent virgin media just automatically doing this or is it to trick people into keeping paying for it?

Re: Changes to Virgin TV (2020)

You get to keep watching the channels and keep any promotional/loyalty discounts you have (it's a bill credit and not a package change)

As to why you have to apply - probably because that's the way Sky are doing it!

Lifetime movie channel in uk maybe?

Where did you hear that?

Lifetime movies aren't the same, they wouldn't be of interest to the relative in question.

Due to all the Sports rights Sky has given up on in the past two years Sky may end up axing some Sky Sports channels for Sky Documentaries HD and Sky Nature HD.:D

Lifetime movies are exactly the same romance rubbish made for tv movies.
Lifetime are keen to launch their movie channel in the UK.

I'm well aware what type of movies they do. They aren't exactly the same, and they're much worse. They are more akin to the stuff that was shown on True Movies before it (thankfully) changed into Sony Movies Classic.

There are multiple different levels of quality even in made for TV movies.

I hadn't heard Lifetime were wanting to launch their movie channel over here, given the awful ratings of the existing Lifetime UK channel they'd be better closing that and replacing it.

Hopefully not, with the exception of Sky Sports Main which duplicates Sky's choice of viewing.

At some times they don't have enough channels anyway so need to use red button streams behind an existing channel - ok if you are supplied from sky but not if by virgin as you cannot record RB streams (unlike sky which usually has a recordable sub-menu)

I remember when BT Sports was added to all our packages, whether we wanted it or not, and the price went up to reflect this.

Does this now mean that we will all get a refund during the sports shutdown?

If you fill in the form you will save just shy of a tenner per month.

Well not ALL of us. Though package channel additions over the years have increasingly moved us to the package tier BT was added to whether people wanted it on not.

I've put in a claim for BT Sports on the Full House package. I'm half expecting them to trot out the 'but it's supplied at no extra cost to you' line.

It will be interesting to see the amount that they attribute for this 'free' service if they agree to reduce my bill.

I've claimed to pause BT Sport.

I wish I could have cancelled it instead as none of us here EVER watch ANY sport.

It'll be interesting to see their response.

Thanks for that. I went in early last week and asked to pause Sky Sports (only option). Got notification yesterday that they had, and billed today with the credit. I’ve just gone back and reapplied for both to be paused.

April version of the Channel Guide PDF added yesterday...

Desktop PDF:

Mobile PDF:

Yep, it still has Amazon Prime Video listed on the incorrect channel number!

In addition to this, the package information is now incorrect for Comedy Central HD and MTV HD, which are now included in Mix and Fun too (so should have a tick in columns 2 and 3).

Apparently VM have emailed those on lower TV tiers to say they are getting the following channels free until 2nd of May.

Box Hits
Colors
Comedy Central
DMAX
Discovery
FOX
Gold
ID
Kerrang
Kiss
Lifetime
Magic
MTV
TCM
TLC
Rishtey
Rishtey Cineplex
Sony SAB

According to JJ20X on Forum Box override flags have been added to a few channels, their +1s and HD versions not listed above.

So there are likes of W HD , W+1, E4 HD, TCM HD available too. I'm not going to list them, I suggest people on lower packages scroll through the EPG and see how many aren't greyed out that normally are.

I'm on the Mix TV package and so I seem to have gained:

E4 HD
More4 HD
FOX HD
Discovery HD
Discovery +1
Box Hits
Kerrang
TCM HD

No email from VM. Is it coronavirus related? Do we know how long we will have the extra channels available to us?

Until May 2nd for the ones I mentioned in the list of 18 above. No idea for the others as they weren't in the email, they were found via JJ20X on Forum Box.

They have had override flags applied, rather than tier changes, so they are temporarily available to a wider number of customers.

VM has updated the EPG and TV Control app with Sky's refreshed channel logos.

They've missed out the HD version on Sky Comedy, but except that it's now much cleaner and more consistent.

I noticed this this morning, then, as I was about to post regarding it, I thought "is it new?" as it's just the sort of thing I don't tend notice immediately as I turn the logos off on the EPG.

Virgin Media has also launched Entertainment Picks for Mixit TV customers.

I'm not sure renaming Personal Picks to Entertainment Picks qualifies as a 'launch'. 😂

If lower tiers are getting 25+ channels the folk on bigger tiers should get credits for BT automatically and not have to apply for it.
