1) Sky own the equipment so will want it back; you can't just keep the box to receive FTA channels.
2) The fittings are Sky Q dedicated so you can't just buy a Freesat box and swap it for a Sky Q box.

I thought they offered a"hybrid" LNB if you also had/have a Freesat box?

If you believe that Andrew you clearly don't have a grasp of the current pay TV market , these companies are having to do everything in their power to hold onto people. It's all very well everyone saying after the first year they won't offer anything but in the current climate I wouldn't bet on that. You think people are going to go from paying £35 to over £100 with BB and phone ? People are still free to leave go elsewhere for a year and comeback on a new customer deal.

Re: More price rises

Finally called up last night re the next price increase, my plan before the call was to ditch sky sports to keep my bill within what I consider my limit

Got though to retentions very quickly about this time last night, just said that my current bill was too high and that I'd be struggling with another rise

After being on hold for a couple of minutes I was offered virtually the same package with bb going back from 100 to 200 with a very hefty discount for the first 9 months of a new 12 month contract

A happy customer once again, well done vm

I'm not so sure. Had this offer from SKY today to keep my 50% off deal going for another 5 years.

Oh yes! :D I don't even have to do anything. It's already been applied to my account automatically. I'm free to walk away anytime I like over the next 60 months.

Well only a company who knows they are going to keep making money continuously in the future would do this as for 99% of companies this would be utter financial suicide if they adopted this same strategy.

That's a great deal Chad, hope I get one of those too!

I wonder if that 50% off negates the fact that they'll still do yearly price rises?

Forgot to ask Chad, have you got Sky+HD or Sky Q?

When SKY announced their price increases earlier this I did receive a letter confirming price increses but my letter said my package was going up by £0.00. My monthly cost didn't budge. Not sure if this will be the same over the next 5 years.

SKY+HD. I'm certain if I upgrade to SKY Q my deal will come to an end. Happy enough with SKY+HD. Don't have a 4k TV yet.

Ahh, wonder if the five year deal maybe for Sky+HD customers? I know the discounted packages now carry over to Sky Q as far as I am aware, mine did when I upgraded recently.

Enjoy the great offer anyway mate! :)

So I've come home today to find a letter enticing me back to virgin media saying I can have some nice discounts.
Out of curiosity I get it priced up
Full House TV
Talk more anytime
200Mb
Sky movies
£63 a month.
Which is roughly what I was paying before my offer ended and Went to over £100 and all I was offered was same without movies for £84. I despair.

Hello folks! ... just adding my new deal to the list!

Phone line + Talk Weekends ... line saver due end of the year.
TV M (that comes free with the phone) ... 500G box
Vivid 100MB Broadband

Basic stuff, just £10 less that it was, now £24.99 (loyalty discount of £5 for 18 months!) ... so I'm happy with that!

Mines due in March sometime. Do VM let you know when it's due, or do they just start charging you line rental again?

I usually mark it up on my calendar, just to make sure. In previous years I did receive an email reminder.

How close were you to the end of your contract or were you out of contract.

Mine isn't up until May but i'd go for this.

I think my TV deal was due to expire at around the end of January.
