As per VM's email, you'll only be able to access the forum when you've received your hardware.

Back in my service tech days, I was working in London and a guy had these 2 huge houses converted in 19 flats. He had a STB in every room. The fault I went for was a broadband fault. His issue was the wifi from his newly released superhub 1 would only cover about 3 of the 19 flats. I explained that the properly would need to be split into separate accounts, or he needed a bespoke business solution. Which he complained about that costing him extra. He asked how he could maximise the wifi range, I said its at the top of the building at the moment which is generally the best place. His next response was do we do a weatherproof one so he could put it on the roof, he moaned when I explained we didn't!

Have you got the new hardware yet? As mentioned the hardware needs to be enroute before you can access it, you should be able to access the forum when you get your email and text saying Yodel will deliver it.

Given that it is a trial of hardware it would not be unreasonable that there is more than one version of hardware inside the same box style.

The first batch of people mostly got the email and delivery on the same day, think it was a Friday, just don't install the thing late in the day in case you run into problems and end up without internet as the forum staff may have gone home! It is not like installing a SH, can take longer and you will need to read the instructions or you will be scratching your head.

Because that would be a terrible idea from Virgin. You don't do a widespread trial of different hardware, you do that part in a lab and when you're happy, you do a wider trial to ensure it works in the field and the software is correct.

Somehow a device that actually contains no intentionally designed antennas actually produces a better wireless signal than the Superhub 1 :)

I don't think you understand the rules of the trial, even if you have been on one before. Posting 'experiential' info like timings and setup is also prohibited. In fact any knowledge that is gained via the trial.

VM Ireland has publicly stated on their forum they're trialling Compal.

I sigh sometimes, especially with VM customers.

Not only are they content with "willy waving" but occaisonally they do the same with a "stiiffy!", THEN you have to explain it to another VM customer!

I hope Ken understands now.

Having been on several VM trials in the past and, since then, several BT ones, I have not seen anything in this thread that would breach the NDA that the testers have agreed to.

If you think otherwise then this is not the place to post your opinion, if you are unable to post in the correct place (VM's)trial forum) then you are not in a position to comment IMHO.

Well I have to admit that I'm getting frustrated with the lack of information coming from them. Got accepted to the trial, received all the emails that everybody else has who's on it including the "it'll be shipped in the next week or so" but got no hardware or indications that it's even been shipped! Can see the Trials support forum but got no access as I haven't got the hardware yet.

No response from the coordinator of the trial either. Probably the slowwwwest trial that I've ever been a part of :(

Re: Broadband Hardware Trial 2015

Just had another email, they are aiming to get the 2nd wave of trialists in by October 30th and also looks like they will be opening up the trial forum at some point today.

What's interesting is that they've opened up a second trial forum.

Got my e-mail and can now get into the second trial forum but the first one is still access denied, I wonder if there are any differences between the 2?

Got same email, clicked link and it is opening the Forum. Going to read it thoroughly now.

Looks like the 2nd trial may be slightly different, no idea.

Could the next lot be trialing a different bit / brand of kit?

Which has been suggested earlier in this thread and pooh poohed by some here.

Perhaps maybe just a different firmware or settings..

Different hardware testing maybe?

Or maybe nothing different.

lol

I have no idea what is happening in the other forum apart from being grouped separately as to not dump them in with us considering everything that is going on atm.

Could well be a slightly different firmware but i think that would be pointless.

Looking forward to this, especially as my plans for next weekend have fallen through. Shame as I was quite looking forward to going into London. Still, I'll hopefully have the new kit to play around with next weekend to take my mind off it.

Different firmware testing perhaps, and not wanting to prejudice the newer testers by them seeing the issues in the earlier firmware.

Exactamundo - although I think the first lot are getting the newer firmware at the same time.

Both trial forums will merge at a not to distant future date.

Re: Broadband Hardware Trial 2015

Yeah I don't think it's different hardware. I think they're attempting to keep the second group separate. They're already asking us to do tests and such before even receiving the equipment, that to me is reason enough to separate the forums. They'll probably open them both up eventually.

Re: Broadband Hardware Trial 2015

Like I said, Kush, they will merge in due course.

Got mine yonks ago. It is in situ, documents at hand on the iPad, etc.

Just no damn time window to get it done. I'm in Malta right now! (Haha - sunny & warm).

I will get round to it late next week, Snoopz.

Bugger. And it'll still be bad when I get back. Better start my trial work, then.
