Managers make me laugh so much. You have the likes of Wenger saying that transfer windows should shut before the first game of the season, and January one should be banned. Yet if they did that and they then got injuries and couldn't get a replacement in what's the betting those same managers would be moaning about the changes to transfer windows.

It means he doesn't get a pay of from Everton if they sell now, which would be over 3 million quid if the transfer fee being bandied about is true. The buying club will almost certainly compensate him for this though and it puts Everton in a better position with the fans as they had to sell him.

The days of leaving a player to rot in the reserves are gone, I forget the exact details but for a start if a player over a certain age doesn't play in a set number of matches each season they can leave with only their contract being paid up, it's essentially why Chelsea couldn't do anything about Cech going to Arsenal except take the positive headlines about doing the right thing for a club legend, if they had any say whatsoever he wouldn't be there guaranteed

Is it possible to send Mitrovic back before the window ends? He just blew a completely winnable game. Every signing looks brilliant bar him. It's Roy Keane playing as a striker. I hope he gets a massive internal fine because his on pitch behaviour is just unacceptable. I have high hopes for this team and I just feel bad luck is against us at the minute. Gino and Thauvin look brilliant.

Arsenal were there for the taking and looked awful for what's expected of them. Dominated 10 men naturally but failing to get a goal of their own is just bad, passed it about the Newcastle half for 90 minutes against 10 men, uninspiring.

Edit: Liverpool are also turd. Rodgers has to go, I'll repeat myself over and over, He's a mouse in charge of a cat. I don't know why Liverpool fans have accepted Mediocrity as the way forward. How you went from Champions League winners under Benitez to scrapping it out in the dire Europa League. I said at the start that Rodgers and Hodgson were not good enough for a team as big as Liverpool and I was told they need time. 3 years later and £300 million spent and still scrapping in the Europa League, getting obliterated in your most recent Champions League campaign by second rate teams? blowing what should have been a guaranteed Premier League title?

I expected goals to come as soon as we went down to 10, but they just didn't. I agree more than ever, Arsenal need something up front.

Coutinho, take a bow mate. Class.

People are claiming Mitrovic's red card is harsh, It's really not, it's a disgusting stamp that's went all the way down his shin, it's deliberate to be fair, I don't see how he can defended. You can't do that accidently.

City 5 points clear after 4 games... Sterling gets on the scoresheet, I can see this being a very long one sided season.

Palace 1-0 Chelsea, dear lord the 'top' teams are awful :P

Starting to worry for the Premier League now, rubbed it off as an off season last year, the excitement is definitely still there but people are right, the big clubs are getting worse.

Watch it in slow motion. He was making the movement with his foot off the ground long before the Arsenal player got there. It couldn't have been deliberate even if he wanted to.

You have to judge these sorts of incidents from the start point, not the end point.

An example is where a player performs an overhead kick, the area around him is clear and safe at the time, but meanwhile another player rushes in and gets kicked in the process. The kicking player acted fairly when he started to kick the ball, so why should he be to blame?

Looking again, you're probably right, but most of my basis is based on Mitrovic himself not the challenge, put short, he's a bellend...and I feel like he's done that on purpose, isn't the first time and probably not the last. Being even more honest as a Newcastle fan, McClaren sent that that seem out there to split any Arsenal player in half, it was obvious from the get go they were playing physical.

37 yellow cards and 5 reds and he's 20 years old.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

here is what I think they need to do for offsides.

Consider that every offside decision usually has a stop in play, either for the goal or the offside itself.

Give linesman the option for flagging "I dont know", if he flags "I dont know" then the game continues as is whilst the 4th ref checks the replay, if there is a goal they should know before the players reach the centre circle if offside or not and change to a goal kick if is. If a corner it might get delayed for 30 secs or so to await the decision. Otherwise would be no impact on fluidity of the game.

Thats good for a player in the last year of their contract but it should never have got to that situation. Since Fergie left our transfer activity has been an embarrassment.

According to Guillem Balague, De Geas people have said that United offered a new contract last year but LVG stopped it because he prefered Navas....seems crazy!

If one game is the benchmark then your Liverpool team is worthless since the weekend.

I'm quite happy Den. :)

Maybe after today's antics levy and the chickens of North London will realise that they are not a big club.

The way they have gone about transfer business exposes them as the insignificant *******s that they are.

Exposed as if anyone was in doubt as the classless spivs I always considered them to be, couldn't have happened to a nicer guy than Levy to boot

There are reports in Spain that De Gea might actually sign a new contract now and is being advised to by his people. This is one of the biggest balls up i've ever seen!

MalteseFalcon 02-09-2015 16:25

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Or this is another Wayne Rooney situation. Remember the other year when he said he was going to leave for City, and then hey presto a new contract appeared with everything he wanted in there. Bet this was just a whole ruse to get a new contract tailored heavily in favour of the player.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

The only thing for certain is De Geas 'advisors' will get him games to play in. De Gea will most probably get himself focused again with or without the contract renewal. Will LVG rather Valdes over De Gea as second choice? Valdes wont change or he might with all this in the air ?

denphone 02-09-2015 16:34

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Players can still leave quickly even after a new contract is signed so one suspects even if he did sign a new contract it would mean diddly squat as the only thing it might do is increase his transfer fee.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Or he might've realised if they actually wanted him they wouldnt have waited to the last second to try and get him? But yeah, its almost certainly for the money

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Firstly, Spurs are NOT chickens from North London.

Daniel Levy, is known for this. He is a shrewd businessman - and a skinflint, who wont break a certain Budget.

What is making me laugh is that Levy, is paying Adebeyor is paying £150.000 per week (Man City are paying so much towards it) to train with the Academy.

He is a proven striker, yet Poch wont play him.

Levy, since he has been in charge is well known for being tight-fisted. BUT, the story behind Berinho, is that Levy wanted to pay 5 mil up front and the rest over a certain period BUT, When Albion wanted Fazio, they wanted to do the same deal. But Levy wouldn't accept it

So just read behind the lines

But there again we have signed FIVE players compared to ONE for Arsenal - that's why the Gunners have a lot of money.

Can l understand the frustration of Gunner fans

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Any twit could go out and buy with a budget. Question is what are you bringing back? Its more Mr bs skinflint businessman than anything else. The real definition of a skinflint is over the other side of North London!

Adebayor is no longer getting subsidised weekly by Man City if ever he was. It was reported both that he was getting subsidised weekly or he got a pay-off. He did get a signing on fee from Tottenham and is now on 100k a-week payable fully by Tottenham.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/foo...-from-God.html

Saido Berahino has a price tag. a similar tag Tottenham had no issues paying for Soldado? Did Levy say to himself that he doesn't want to get stung again lol Berahinos somewhat proven in the league is he not? weighing it all up is it the same sort of gamble as an experienced player having zero PL games?

As for the other side of North London. The squad needs to remain fit. A fully fit squad can challenge for the title. Five to one signings means nothing neither does the fact Arsenal have money. Arsenal even with the weakest squad on record under Wenger and the handicap of the stadium managed to out do so soo many bar title winners/challengers.

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

To be fair, Spurs need five signings, Arsenal could use 5 signings but they weren't of massive importance, Arsenal needed a striker more than anything.

Assuming De Gea doesn't sign anything for United, am I right in assuming he can Pogba it in January?

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Judging by reports mid window RM have already laid out something with a massive signing on bonus.

Russ 03-09-2015 05:01

Re: Football Season 2015/2016

Yep I wouldn't mind betting that's the plan. As much as I feel he's not the right man for the job I'm impressed at how LVG gave them the middle finger - RM aren't used to not walking all over a club to get their man so maybe they'll take the public embarrassment of missing out on De Gea by minutes and get their ego-restoring revenge by stealing - and with likely zero resistance - United's best player (I've no doubt he'll return to being 1st choice keeper, surely not even LVG would be stubborn/arrogant enough to dump one of the best goalies in the world on the bench as 'punishment' when we don't have a reliable/proven alternative?) mid-season for free.

I only hope De Gea will remain professional enough to not want to try to 'justify' his transfer to the fans by 'accidentally' putting in some below-par performances. You'd think that kind of suggestion would be ridiculous but given how LVG's attitude seems to negatively affect players who knows....
