Better do and it better have a reasonable price in line with the US! I bet over here it'll come up at £10.00 p/m hoping the brits dont realise that $10 doesnt equal £10...

does look excellent though the network and as long as its reasonable i'm signing up straight away.

Now if only it'd come as a tivo app...but we can't all get that lucky haha

so by the sound of it just the 3 channels launching tonight unless MB can provide some out of the blue good news!

The Network is excellent, get a VPN and you can access it now, didn't take long to setup, put any address in USA, Google a town and find one. Can imagine with sky's contract we would get a very watered down version.

Actually in the last six months despite losing the CL contract Sky have signed 17 new sports rights deals so there could be a awful lot of decent content going onto SS3HD and SS4HD.

Haha LG are surely not that stupid to strike a deal and let that happen. Any deal will no doubt include new channel launches.

Nobody has mentioned anything about Sky 3D. Since the article said all channels apart from Atlantic am i right in assuming this includes Sky 3D also?

Agreed. And if anything this deal only lessens the likelihood of BT's Champions League coverage coming to Virgin.

I think its nailed on the moment the BT sports contract ends then the XL shenanigans will end instantly regardless of this deal or not. BT spent wayyyyy too much for the champions league. Prices will go up even before this.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 2

I joined SKY 17 months ago after being a Telewest / Virgin Media TV customer for nearly 8 years. With the announcement today of a new carriage deal between both companies, that will see 5 more SKY HD channels launch on the Virgin Media platform, I can honestly say I now consider Virgin Media and SKY equals in the TV market. This is something I honestly thought I'd never see.

SKY might have a handful more HD channels than Virgin Media, SKY Atlantic and a broader catch up TV library however I think Virgin counter this with BT Sports included in the XL package and the availability of Netflix on their TiVo box.

I would truly struggle to separate both in terms of who has the best TV offering. For me they are neck and neck and can only be separated in terms of your own personal viewing preferences.

Yeah according to VM customer services last week despite having been connected to Virgin for last 3 and half years, my road and the surrounding roads aren't connected to the Virgin network. So that begs the question, why am I using a TiVo box and using their BB if I cannot connect to their network? I swear customer service employees get worse.

Some of them still have the "computer says no", so it MUST be correct mentality. If that were me, i'd have asked them to contact billing to tell them to stop charging for a service that, by their own admission, I cannot be receiving :D

FREE RUGBY THIS WEEKEND

(,,,taken from a516digital website)

Sky Sports offers magical Rugby League freebie on Pick TV

Rugby League fans look set to benefit from Sky's latest free sports giveaway this weekend, when it will provide 9 1/2 hours of free-to-air coverage of day one of Rugby League's "magic weekend" event on Saturday 17th May via its Freeview channel Pick.
Coverage of the event, held at Manchester's Etihad Stadium starts at 12 noon and continues until 9:30pm.
Unlike previous sports freebies on Pick, the schedules indicate that Freesat viewers will also be able to watch the action.
Viewers can tune in on Freeview (and YouView) channel 11 and Freesat channel 144. It's also available on Sky channel 152 and Virgin Media channel 180 for those without a Sky Sports subscription.

Schedule
12:00 : London Broncos v Catalan Dragons (Kick-off 12:30)
14:30 : Widnes Vikings v Salford Red Devils (Kick-off 14:45)
16:30 : Hull Kingston Rovers v Hull FC (Kick-off 17:00)
19:00 : Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos (Kick-off 19:15).

Day two of the event remains exclusive to Sky Sports subscribers, via Sky Sports 1 (HD).

April 2015 is way too late. I'm going to presume they'll launch in the next month or two.

Don't understand the virgin strategy if it were to be 2 months away or next year, people will be phoning and virgin would say you well get them in a few weeks, months, years. seems mad to me

Vm's definition of coming soon is usually very different to what normal folk call soon, probably will be august.

I've just got into work and i'm here till 8pm and this is most depressing news to be greeted with. we'll be waiting a year possibly for sky sport news hd and sky news hd!? This is depressing.... Maybe we should just close this coming soon to VM thread down and create the "coming soon to VM tv (2015)" thread.

I wonder why they're holding the sports HD channels off till august? I'd understand if its sky sports 1/2 HD as they have the football? But 3 and 4 HD dont have any football on them??? Start of the football season makes no difference?

The tweet says "very soon" not "coming soon"....

Therefore it will be soon.....

Don't get too depressed, Vince, there has been no indication I have seen that the Sky Basics HD channels now confirmed as coming will be delayed until next year.

However, I would also like to point out to everyone that dates for new starts on here may be correct at time of posting, but they can change for all sorts of reasons, including for technical reasons. Having said that, and leaving our more respected posters aside, some of the dates given are really pure speculation. I have no idea where the 2015 date comes from.

To be honest, until Virgin confirm exactly when the extra basic HD channels are coming, it's all speculation. It could be next month, but it could indeed be 2015.

The main thing is we are getting them and at no extra cost or so they tell us.;)

True, Ben, but there is no source that I am aware of that indicates we will have to wait until 2015. It sounds as if that was plucked from the air. Unless, of course, you know different!

MB Views: Did Virgin Media only sign new Sky Basic deal due to Smallworld takeover?

The Sky Basic deal was not up to until 2017.

But Virgin Media has took over Smallworld in February 2014.

Did Virgin Media only signed as new Sky deal due to them paying Sky two times a month since February 2014?

But having been announced in such a public way, people are going to want to know precisely when - prospective customers, not just the awkward squad on forums like this.

It's pretty poor PR (and salesmanship) to announce something then not follow through pretty rapidly with the details.

2015? That's a complete new definition of "coming soon" ;)

Possibly. But what Smallworld were paying Sky was presumably scaled down proportionately to their customer base, so there wouldn't necessarily be that much saving.

Exactly; when the Sky basic channels came back in 2008, they had placeholder channels up within a few days and the channels launched the week after. There's no reason to announce this now and then make us wait so long, especially as they're mainly promoting having the F1 in HD, and the F1 season has only just started.

If the channels don't launch within a short timeframe then they really need to ask themselves, is it better to announce now and then make people wait until an unspecified date, or announce it closer to the time?

It may be the timing of the announcement was mainly driven by Sky, perhaps as a reassurance to their shareholders ahead of other announcements about takeover plans, and Virgin weren't quite ready?

However the implication from it was that the Sports HD channels would come more or less immediately, with the other two 'later'.

Having signed up to that announcement, Virgin really do need expand on what their plans are, otherwise they are missing the opportunity to capitalise on the deal, as well as fuelling "speculation".

Why do you think price will go up - Sky viewers are rumoured to be paying £5/£6 for Sky Sports HD.

I was talking about that extra £7 per month for Sky Sports HD Channels on Virgin Media.

I know the Sky Sports SD Channels goes up every October with Virgin Media.
