It's better than people constantly posting to ask over and over again when a particular TV channel is going to launch, surely?

There is already an established thread on Netflix and discussions around it on this forum.

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/11...iscussion.html

This is why different threads have a purpose and not just one thread to discuss everything in it should people want to.

Back on topic, as previously mentioned there is the launch of the TV anywhere app for Android coming soon.. I heard next week and another poster on the VM forums says the 27th so fingers crossed we get it nwxt week.

oh theres a thread to discuss it in too when it arrives ;-)

Anyway this debate should be in Netflix thread and not the Coming Soon thread, this thread needs moderators sorting it out!

Not really, should we have threads for the many various other topics we talk about?

How about a thread for VPN/DNS usage?

LOL, this is a thread about whats coming to Virgin TV, not android apps. As you rightly point out though, there is a thread for TV anywhere on android operating systems. LOL.

The VPN/DNS subject should be in the Computers & IT section surely?
What has it got to do with what's coming soon on Virgin TV?

Netflix isnt even coming soon, its here so people can discuss it in the Netflix thread, is that hard to comprehend as logical?

The Android App is funnily enough coming soon for Virgin TV so a damn lot more suited to the TV section of this site considering its primarily based to enhance their TV service.

As I said, its the moderators job to run the forums, but if this thread is just to discuss whatever anyone wants too, then why bother.

What you have for dinner tonight?

Yup, as I stated in my last post, all subjects that veer away from what is confirmed as launching by VM should have their own threads then, not just the stuff you find boring. Many people accept this thread for what it is, and you have not moaned about VPN or DNS being mentioned many times previously. So why bring it up now, guilty conscience?!?

The android app is not coming to VM TV though is it? It is a companion app for android devices and it certainly won't be an app on TIVO either, what would be the point. It will be used generally when people are away from their TV and their TIVO box(es).

If the mods are happy with the discussions why challenge them? As is frequently said, if you do not like the thread, check out the changelog.

Oh, and I had chicken jambalaya soup thanks. What about yourself?

Going back to what actually is "coming soon on Virgin TV" is Banshee. Superblade has pointed out that it will be shown on Sky One from the 2nd December. His post is in the "whats on virgin TV" thread.

Yeah pretty much, that's how forums work. Different threads to discuss different topics, which actually this subject I find interesting but don't want to derail the thread for pages discussing it.
Obviously things will get mentioned which dont relate to the topic, but when those then go on for a few pages it's too much
Guilty conscience??

Yes it's a companion app that can let you control your VM TV service away or at home. Stuff like manage series links, set recordings etc all related to TV services.
Of course its not going to be on TiVo as an app, why would you think that? And its not just for TiVo users!

As is frequently said, the changelog is just that, a log of changes. I thought this thread was to discuss what is coming soon to VM TV and id hope the moderators would stick to this as best as possible. It was just last week one asked to keep things on topic.

Which is the best place to discuss such things no?

Am not going to say anything else about it, as I realise the irony about moaning about going too far off topic and if the mods want to delete this feel free but it would be handy to know what is and isnt allowed on this thread.

But other people may find the other topics interesting, though. Just because you do not does not mean it should not be allowed to develop. Other posters can ignore the separate discussion, and continue to post about what is rumoured to be coming to VM TV. I really fail to see the problem with the thread the way it is.

Yup, it's a good idea to let it go. The last couple of things I will say are that you are more than welcome to set up a thread for "day-to-day chit chat" or some such title, to try and take the emphasis away from the derailing of this thread. Finally, seeing as you wish this thread to stay on topic perhaps you will be able to give us some confirmed of what is coming to VM TV soon. I am not trying to be awkward, just simply highlighting how difficult it is to discuss what is actually coming to VM TV.

Blimey! That was an interesting couple of pages to catch up on!

With regards Banshee I'm intrigued by this, and I wish if it has any significance. There is generally much speculation when a new Atlantic show is trailed and the advert either does our does not say "exclusive to Sky" or similar. I don't suppose anybody can remember how this show was trailed?

As JustaBloke says, that is not the case. Amazon US will sell region 1 DVDs to the UK; I've bought quite a lot over many years. What they won't sell to non US regions, is the digital file versions, and their buying process stops the purchase from happening if you're not located in the US.

I'm delighted infinity is now here, it means over the next year or so i should have some real choice. However, for now, and for me, Virgin offer me HD, BT Sport and the Sky basic channels all in one place, are cheaper than Sky for what I want from them and not very much more than BT or Talk Talk given the extras they offer over either of those companies once my loyalty discount is taken into account.

Without that discount, however, they're beginning to look very expensive. I know they've had a good year, but with channels continuing to be moved to lower tiers i can't help thinking that there must be something else to come. It would be really disappointing if they're relying on people not switching services-there really is so much choice now.

It would appear BT have now released an update which has enabled the recording of the live internet channels and are keen to add more channels so it looks like competition is set to get hotter still , I believe Talk Talk are also to release a similar update to enable recording of the IPTV channels.

I actually hadn't considered that you couldn't!

Just browsing cash back rates available and you could almost have two or three months free with most providers. Sky are also offering Virgin customers 25% off for 12 months.

Banshee is not a new show, it has already been on sky Atlantic earlier in the year. It is now going to be shown on SKY1, so there would be no reason for it to be advertised as "exclusive to sky"

Once we have got the missing Sky channels, there will be very little left that we need, so we can't expect new channels to be added on the same prolific basis as we have seen this year.

To be fair, we have just been provided with Netflix, so this is a major benefit to us and we really shouldn't be bored! ;)

Rumours say that BBC may launch local BBC One HD Channels for England from 2014*.

MB this is an interesting quote and the bold words very interesting words to use. Are you hinting very subtly (because you can't say anything yet) that you know the missing Sky channels are indeed launching and all you want to launch now on VM are the three channels you have listed? ;)

As far as I know no new movie Channels are set to launch on Virgin.

Just saying that all I need is them to launch to stop my Dad from asking 'When is Sony Movies coming to Virgin? or 'When is True Movies 2 coming to Virgin?'.

Doesn't seem likely mate, overall though it's been a good year to be a virgin media customer.

Can anyone tell me what package and price they're paying currently? i have such a bizarre package which i'm pretty sure doesnt actually exist??

- 30 meg broadband (so this is L broadband?)
- XL Phone
- XL TV
- Sky Sports
- £10 off loyalty bonus

Our last bill was £112.00 which i'm guessing is due to phone costs like mobiles and stupid premium phone lines like 0845 etc. It's getting way too much. i've tried calling up retentions but they're quite cocky these days.

i tell them about deals and offers with sky and they start bragging about broadband sizes with virgin. looking at the vip collection i must be getting screwed over here shortly?!??!?!

If a HD swap ever does occur it seems a missed opportunity to start the "swap" section on ch 161 with BBC Two HD. BBC One HD/SD on 161 would have made more sense.

You should try using another phone call provider, i got royally ripped off when i phoned a mate in Thailand and decided to look elsewhere.

I use these for my phone calls now, cheap as chips. You have to go by the mobile rates as VM don't do short codes, you get used to dialling the access number pretty quick as well. I'm also on giffgaff which is free for 0800/0808 numbers so i've registered my mobile with them as well.

Positive sign. Although I'm not sure about this, as he seems to be referring to iOS user having to re register which must mean there is something going on behind the scenes with the iOS app.

I personally work with HD video which involves a lot of downloading and uploading (more down than up) so it's very useful. I also need a high speed link for high quality audio streams which often take up 15-25mb/s which renders the connection useless for others if I was on 30mb.

Aimed at Dave I know but....

Family of 5 each with laptops/iPads/iPhones (TVAnywhere/SkyGo/YouTube etc.)

Gaming - personally I have the Xbox One and had to download over 50gb of games/updates/add-ons to get everything up and running on Friday, how long would that have taken on a slower connection?

When everyone is online it's good to have the capacity.

Loads of genuine reasons for households to have 120mb. Also lots of other reasons for households to have 120mb.

.

Could be that the registration database is being upgraded to allow Android users to register and, in doing so, the iOS registrations are lost and require re-doing.

WM has been messing about with TV Anywhere listings over the last couple of days. First virtually nothing listed, then with the new BBC HD channels in their new locations where they will be after 10/12/2013), now those are back in the current correct places. So anything that gets reported is likely to be a fleeting view of things to come only. Clearly not everything is working correctly with TV Anywhere right now and even the scheduled maintenance had to be canceled http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...e/td-p/2087492
