"BoxNation will also show two episodes of the multi-award winning HBO 24/7 documentary series that follows both fighters with unparalleled access as they head towards their rematch".

Usually there is 4 episodes to 24/7 however I believe there has only been 3 filmed for Cotto Vs. Margarito II. It would have been great to see all 3 episodes on BoxNation however 2 is better than none!

If you can't wait you can watch plenty, and I mean plenty, of pre-fight hype over on the HBO website:

http://www.hbo.com/boxing/index.html...WkVrAxAgB62xti

I think the first 2 episodes of 24/7 are there too at the moment.

I think for future competitions BoxNation will need to announce the winners a little earlier in the week to allow people to plan their journey. I watched the Burns Vs. Katsidis with my Dad and 2 brothers at my parents and had a great night. It's not often us Scots have a world champion at anything!

I heard the same quote about Harrison myself during the fight.

Ricky Burns Vs. Scott Harrison would be massive up in Scotland. Scott Harrison however would need to prove he still has something to offer first. A couple of warm-up fights against other Scots at the same weight like Motherwells Paul King or Gary McArthur from Clydebank. Neither have big punches which should allow Harrison to control the fight, look good, and get much needed rounds under his belt.

It will be tough for Scott. If you want to know how tough you should check out this Scott Harrison documentary from 3 years ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bspwkaRVV4

It was supposed to be a documentary about his much anticipated comeback but by the end of it he's facing prison.

Probably not at this stage. If and when it launches BoxNation and Virgin will probably need to agree a new carriage deal. If and when this happens, hopefully virgin can get BoxNation On Demand.

Believe it or not I am married and have a life, it just sounds like all i do is go on about boxing 24/7. In all honesty I only think about boxing for 23 hours of the day:p:

Yeah someone raised that issue a couple of days ago. A Virgin member of staff posted that there is no problem with the channel launching. EPG should be updated when the channel goes live on the 01st December. Either that or I'm paying £10 for a whole lot of "Coming Soon":D

I'm going for cotto to win by tko rd 11 , also just to let people know there is what looks like a great program all about my favorite fight , Benn v mccellen on Monday itv 1 (hd) not sure of the time , I think that was a frank warren card ?

I'm going for Cotto but not confident of a K.O.

That programme your talking about featured on The Bunce Boxing Hour this week on Boxnation. It sounds really good. Apparently they get Benn and McClellan together for the first time since their fight in 1995. My memory of the promoter on the night is fuzzy. I think it was indeed a Frank Warren show. A terrible night for boxing, and a terrible night for the McClellan family.

i agree it was a terrible night for both boxing and the mcclellans , if gerrald mcclellan hadnt been injured , that fight would of surely of gone down as one of the fights of the century , and the greatest win for a british boxer .

hi also it would be good to have a poll each week on the web site , with boxnation viewers voting fom a choice of 3 classic fights , with the winning vote being shown on boxnation and also boxnation could have 'for example a naz night or again vote from 3 boxers and the winning vote show that boxers fights for the night , what do you think ?

Even if none of the suggestions get taken further forward, I think we're just happy to have a voice.

I've been completing ESPN surveys for over 2 years now asking for more boxing coverage, and not once have they ever replied or even humoured me.

It's a big day for boxing fans tomorrow with Virgin Media. I'm in;)

On a seperate matter I've noticed that Boxrec haven't updated their website to include fights being shown on BoxNation. Well fight cards are listed but BoxNation aren't getting recognised as the UK broadcaster of the events.

As a boxing fan I'm well chuffed. I've missed the regular Sauerland Events and Top Rank shows ever since we lost Setanta just over 2 years ago. It's great to have Buncey and Andy Kerr back on screen together. I always though Buncey got a bum deal. Why SKY never picked him up I'll never know. The man loves the sport just as much as your ordinary punter. To me he is the voice and opinion of the fans, even though he can rant a bit:D

I've been reading about the Chisora / Helenius press conference today. Del Boy is back to his usual mental self. Whilst I'm looking forward to Cotto Vs. Margarito and Murray Vs. Rios I'm totally up for Chisora Vs. Helenius. Sadly I think it'll end with Chisora on the canvas, but it'll be exciting while it lasts!

BoxNation is beginning to gather a bit of cult status, and not just here in the UK. My American, Canadian and Australian chums on the various boxing forums are sick with jealousy.

I've checked Twitter, Facebook, The BoxNation website and Virgin Community Forum and have found no info about this.

My bill for next month was calculated prior to the launch of BoxNation meaning my first £10.00 subscription fee will be on my next bill, calculated on the 22nd December 2011, which will be payable on the 15th January 2012. So by the time I actually make my first payment for this channel I would have had full access for 46 days.

As BoxNation have confirmed previously, it's up to Virgin how the channel is distributed to us on their platform. So I have 3 suggestions:

1. Virgin have made an error and the channel shouldn't be free
2. Virgin will have the channel as "Freeview" for a couple of weeks to fit in with their billing schedule
3. It's being kept free for 48 hours to give people a taste of the channel prior to Cotto Vs. Margarito II. A late push to drive up subscriptions.

What we really need is someone from Virgin to give us a bit of info if possible.

Hey thanks everyone for the hints. BoxNation is indeed free-to-air on my M+ package right now. Love it!

Maybe it's a mistake, but it's a good one for a change.

Oh, BoxNation EPG data containing spoilers is bad. I know some boxing fans will know the outcome but either way, not good to make archive fights a foregone conclusion!

Chad 02-12-2011 00:59

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

So if everyone is getting BoxNation free just now how would I know if the channel hasn't been successfully added to my package? What I mean is as far as I'm concerned I'm fully subscribed. I would hate it if on Saturday the channel went off air just before the fight for all non-subscribed customers, and it's only at this point I learn the channel hasn't been successfully added to my package and the screen goes blank. I've got family and friends coming round to watch the fight on Saturday and I seriously don't need any hassle, stress or last minute calls to Virgin trying to resolve the problem. This of course would be the worst case scenario, but it could happen.

Can someone from Virgin clarify what is going on please?

That's just stupid! VM have fairly recently started using a new computer system, one would have thought something as basic as this would have been sorted out.

No more free BoxNation; someone must have noticed the mistake. I left the TiVo on and tuned into the channel and in the morning it was just black, and disappeared from the EPG as soon as I changed the channel.

I must say though, from the illicit sneak peak I got it looks like if you love boxing this channel is worth every penny. If I didn't have such a tight budget I would have signed up!

Their website is coming along nicely however I agree the times are all wrong at the moment.

As far as I can tell the show for Povetkin Vs. Boswell starts at 7pm. Cotto Vs. Maragrito II begins at 2am. The ringwalks for Cotto Vs. Margarito should be between 4:30am & 5:00am. This of course could change depending on how the undercard action goes.

SKY Anytime arrived about 4 weeks ago. I think there is about 3 pages worth of boxing. Pacman against Hatton was devastating. Hatton is not the same man. I wish Khan Vs. Maidana was on demand. I'd love to watch that again.

The fight is tonight. The broadcast starts at 7pm from Germany, it's going to be a long one!

I did watch Martin Murray Vs. Felix Sturm last night. Great battle. Even thought Murray is basically a novice at world level, he went the 12 rounds and could have easily won the fight. In the end it was a draw. As usual with a tight fight people think Murray got robbed. I feel a draw was right.

I have a real feeling Chisora Vs. Helenius tonight from Germany might steal the show.

Your right. I'm confussed because it's a Sauerland event. I just assumed it was from Germany, even though I've been reading and watching the pre-fight hype from Finland:dozey:

Just noticed Brandon Rios failed to make weight for his fight against John Murray and has been stripped of the world title. The fight will go ahead, as long as Rios doesn't put too much weight back on. Only Murray can win the belt. Murray was a clear underdog for this fight however pictures of Rios from the weigh-in are just scary. I think Murray will stop him. I wonder what the latest odds are?

See, this is part of why I have TiVo... not great at remembering schedules, or being there even if I do. :D

Still, you have to give us the skinny the day after if you have the time... I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on this one.

Have you ever seen him fight, or does he just linger about in the ring before and after big fights?

On a separate matter, I've just been reading rumours that Brandon Rios has not eaten for 5 days! A final weigh-in will take place in 30 minutes time to decide whether his fight with Murray goes ahead tonight. I hope it does, John Murray could easily walk away with the world title.

I've got family and friends coming round to watch the fight on Saturday and I seriously don't need any hassle, stress or last minute calls to Virgin trying to resolve the problem. This of course would be the worst case scenario, but it could happen.

Can someone from Virgin clarify what is going on please?

Yourself and other boxing fans may be interested in the film "The Fight Of Their Lives" this Monday. It airs at 10.35pm on ITV1.

BoxNation appears to have been added to my package. The fight Of Their Lives will be unmissable Richard. It's a programme even non-boxing fans should try and catch.

cheers for the info.

And then i got through to India late on and they sorted it no trouble??? Maybe try again see what they say this time?

If you had Setanta Sports, and watched a live boxing broadcast, it's pretty much exactly the same.

Steve Bunce in the UK studio with Enzo Maccarinelli. The old ITV commentary pairing of John Rawling and Duke Mackenzie appear to be in Finland covering the action.

BoxNation themselves are not filming the action. They've simply bought the international feed from Sauerland events. I believe for Cotto Vs. Margarito we'll be getting the Top Rank international feed and not the HBO broadcast. Cotto Vs. Margarito will probably have American commentary.

Whilst I was always a big fan of boxing on Setanta Sports, I would love BoxNation to try and find their own identity.

On a side note, the picture quality isn't exactly great. It's on par with ITV4. For £10.00 per month I'm expecting great picture quality. If you have a big TV, this channel might get a little bit too pixelated for your liking. I've noticed other people posting similar comments on other forums. Hopefully Virgin Media / BoxNation can review the problem and increase the bit-rate if possible. I'm paying a premium price, for a premium channel so give me premium picture quality.

All in, so far so good really.

I thought spur of the moment thing, just saw a excellent cup tie round the weekend with the Cotto fight:)

Still don't know why they quote possible activation might take 24 hours though! When CS could not guarantee being able to watch the fight live, he tried to upsell my broadband, I wonder how long that would take to activate:)

When I upgraded my TV from L to XL it took about 90 minutes to get my new channels. When I added SKY Sports it took about 30 minutes. When I took the VIP50 package, SKY Sports and SKY Movied HD arrived within 10 minutes!

The order has to be processed in Virgin Media Entertainment in Luxembourg. Usually it takes a lot less than 24 hours, but they are covering themselves.

Believe it or not I have a Freeview box bundled with a Setanta sub. I bought it cheap because Setanta was long dead by the time I got it. (See what I mean about not caring much for broadcast TV before TiVo?)

By the sounds of it we're getting British commentators then? Because to be honest, I've heard Americans calling boxing and wrestling and that constant loud/high-energy style really ticks me off.

I wouldn't say it's as bad as the ITV SD channels, probably closer to Dave: it isn't great but not terrible either. Should be better, and should come in both SD and HD versions I agree. If only SD, much higher bitrate.

I think it's a case of no news is good news. Other than dubious picture quality at times, I enjoyed a great night of boxing. 11 hours of action, 9 fights, plenty of Buncey plus family and friends round for beers. BoxNation delivered a proper night of boxing entertainment. I don't think any other British broadcaster has ever offered up such a long and varied card, and that's including nights when SKY have charged £14.99 for PPV broadcasts.

If BoxNation can deliver this type of event once or twice a month, it makes my £10.00 subscription look like a bargain.

As a boxing fan I had high expectations, and BoxNation delivered. I'd still like them to evolve away from the Setanta Sports feel but other than that, a great first effort as a pay TV channel.

The curse of boxing strikes again! Nothing official from Frank Warren yet to confirm why the show has been cancelled. SKY lost Klitschko Vs. Mormeck yesterday too.

The card from this Friday has been re-arranged for the 27th of January 2012. Whilst this is a disappointment this isn't BoxNation's fault. Yes Frank Warren does have a stake in BoxNation but it's not his channel.

For this to work properly Warren, with his large stable of fighters, needs to make cards with 4 or 5 pretty decent domestic bouts every week. If any fights are called off, the card can still go ahead at a decent level.

SKY customers are locked in for 6 months, but Virgin customers can walk away after 30 days. Frank Warren will need to step his game up.

Re: BoxNation on Virgin Media?

I'm beginning to get a little concerned about BoxNation / Frank Warren Promotions.

On the 28th November 2011, 3 days before BoxNation launched as a subscription channel, the following was posted on Boxrec:

"A winding up petition against Frank Warren Promotions was dismissed at London's Royal Courts of Justice this morning.

The action was launched by Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. It is the second time this year that HMRC has issued a winding up order against the company - the first was also dismissed.

BoxRec News understands that FWP has lodged an appeal with the First–tier Tribunal (Tax).

The First-tier Tribunal hears appeals against decisions relating to tax made by HMRC."

2 days ago the Liverpool card featuring James DeGale was cancelled, without any official statement as to why from BoxNation or Frank Warren Promotions.

Today I tried to visit the Frank Warren website, http://www.frankwarren.tv/ , for an update but it no longer appears to be in operation!

So is this all a coincidence, or is the future of BoxNation and Frank Warren promotions on a shaky nail?

Everyone knows the internet is full of rumors and opinions, but there is plenty of truth out there too. I've been reading that BoxNation have been operating at a loss, and this Fridays event in Liverpool just simply wasn't selling. Has the cash run out for Frank Warren? Has the launch of BoxNation, on a subscription basis been a last hurrah to secure some funds?

The truth will come out soon. I hope it's all lies, misinterpretation and gossip.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your excellent ideas for classic fights, duly noted. I'm currently also working on getting some of the ideas you had for the website in place, like having a forum there for fans TV listings, Q&A with Buncey and the others, and BoxNation competitions. I'll keep you updated on those but it looks promising.

Thanks again,
