There was a VM link a few pages back by someone stating movies were not going to be in HD on Anytime.

I kind of expected that seeing as the VM Sky Anytime is technically superior to Skys offering, they had to leave something out of the deal didn't they

I'm having no problems getting through the movies via my Samsung V+box. No delay whatsoever.

Going forward I'd like the movies to be split into genres. 1 folder for comdey, 1 folder for horrer etc...

Why would you put Movies in a TV section?

My TiVo isn't that slow, about 3 seconds to get into the movies and about 1.5 seconds per page. :)

I'm sure it's mentioned in one of the press releases however do M+ customer with SKY Movies get access to these films too? Seeing L & XL customers are the only ones who can access the SKY anytime TV content, I suppose it makes sense to put the movies elsewhere for the benefit of M+ customers.

I hope the above make sense

Yes I thought (although I'm not 100% sure) that the Sky Anytime Movies were available to everyone with a Movies subscription now anyway which is why it's seperated out?

The content restricted to XL is the TV Choice stuff (as it's in TV Choice XL)

Yeah got to agree. £19.50 per month for 11 SKY Movie channel plus Cinemagic is good value, especially with the arrival of SKY Anytime.

You'd struggle to rent more than 6 DVD's in a month for less than £19.50 in most highstreet Video shops.

At Lovefilm you'll pay £8.16 for 4 movie rentals in a month. Even if you take out the unlimited package for £19.39, and I'm talking as an ex-customer of Lovefilm, you'll be lucky to get more than 20 rentals over the period of a month.

It cost me £26.00 to take my Mrs. to the cinema about 4 months ago to watch a movie in 3D, and that was before popcorn, juice and the cost of my petrol.

If you are a fan of movies, and can wait between 6 and 8 months to see the newest releases, SKY Movies and SKY Anytime on Virgin is a total bargain!

This makes me want to resub to Sky movies but the quality of SD Sky Movies is horrible and then when you add the £7 HD charge on top it then makes it an unattractive price.

£26.50 is still a decent price for what your getting, however I fully agree that this might be too much for some people just to watch movies.

Given that come the completion of the roll out there will be 60 pages of movies, will the films be split into genres? Scrolling through 60 pages will take a while, if it was split into horror, comedy etc it would be easier. Anyone know?

Yes l agree it would be better if it was split into genres as 60 pages means a lot of pressing.

V+ is easier to look through the film pages at the mo. TiVo keeps crashing out for me, I'll get down to films starting with say T and then it throws me out of the menu saying no films available and then I have to start at the top again, very annoying!! Then the next time it will work till the end, very random.

And to get 5.1 audio on VM, you have to have the HD version. On Sky, you get 5.1 on SD.

We used to get 5.1 on Telewest on Sky movies SD; shame that is gone.

26.50 is a lot for films that are constantly repeated in my view. Bluerays from Lovefilm work better for me. I may get Sky movies for 30 days when all the OD content, inc. HD, is aailable, to see if the value has increased enough to warrant the price.

All movies are SD to begin with HD coming. My guess would be they need to increase the capacity of the OD servers at the headends to roll out HD.

Not sure however there is a decent selection , let's not forget up until a few months back all Sky entertainment content was SD only , when I first tried an HD movie it took 5 minutes before it was ready to play on 10mb connection that's now down to a minute.

Yes HD TV content.

What will it carry?

It will carry programs from the Sky Channels that are available through Virgin Media’s TV service:
A selection of Sky1, Sky LIVING, Sky Arts, Sky News programs will be available to XL TV customers through TV Choice (SD & HD)
A selection of Sky Movies titles will be available at no extra cost to Sky Movies Collection customers (SD only)

Its been 14 months since the announcement that they were getting OD from Sky lets hope they got storage sorted out a long time ago.

Every headend would need a capacity increase I believe, that's a big, expensive job I guess.

Yes , Sky Anytime works like this , say An Idiot Abroad 2 Ep 1 airs on Sunday its usually added to Anytime the following day , if you have Sky Anytime+ there are usually 3-4 episodes kept so say 1-4 and after a certain time EP 1 will expire if you catch my drift.

I have 21 full pages of 147 movies and 2 movies on the 22nd page. I am right and saying we will eventually have 70+ pages ?
They need to sort them into Genres, A-Z and What's New etc.

TheDon 16-10-2011 16:17

Re: Sky Anytime

They just need to break it down like filmflex is, that way you can view by A-Z, genre, what's new, etc.

Hugh I'm well aware it wasn't free , read this thread below and you will see how angered some of their own subscribers are , this emphasises they'll do business for the right deal.
