couldnt see where else to put this but i emailed Channel 5 about sons of anarchy and got this response

"Although we have acquired the broadcast rights to Series 3 of this programme, these are yet to commence and no transmission dates have been confirmed at the moment."

Dunno, it will have taken over 9 months to eventually launch those two channels so maybe January 2012 ;)

I'm joking of course!

There are known knowns, there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns, that is to say we know there are some things we do not know.

But there are also unknown unknowns – the ones we don't know we don't know.

But VM might know ;)

A big list MB as always but in the end it adds up to a whole lot of not a lot comming anytime in the foreseeable future in reality.

Obviously not critising you MB just VM for nothing new for several months apart from Sky Arts which was listed last year and sky red button also listed last year and only just about to launch (possibly).

Very slow going and poor show from VM who have gone TiVo potty and forgotten its not gonna be any good unless they put content on it.

What a load of rubbish. No content? How many channels does VM supply? We are not that many quality channels behing Sky! Oh and hang on...there are HOURS and HOURS of content of On Demand material....& loads of it free.

Get a grip! Of course VM are concentrating on TIVO. It's a HUGE project. But we already know to expect more HD and SD channels.

I myself have been critical in the past (mostly about the FTO HD not ebing available) and they may not come as quickly as you would like but sheesh...how much TV can one person watch?!

I never said there isnt any content .... BUT most of the current content is based upon repeats of repeats (and TiVo is actually based upon finding repeat screenings of the same content) ... some 'fresh' content would be nice wether its SD or HD.

On Demand is not huge at all IMHO ... on demand is better than nothing but the potential is huge with on demand which isnt being exploited , on demand is again mainly based on repeats of very recent things and not on the archive stuff which is what it should be filled with IMHO.

TiVo may well be the wonder box you say but it still only basically trawls for repeats of recently missed things or upcomming repeats of the same old things. TiVo does not provide new content only new channels can bring that or new paid for apps on TiVo like Lovefilm if they ever agree a deal.

Go on then...what else is it you want? What Fresh SD and HD would you like if you had a wish list?

If were talking channels then maybe they have got a lot of the key ones but not all in HD which is what people want these days with the average family buying sets 40" plus. Key HD channels missing Sky sports 3 and 4 HD , Universal HD , ESPNA HD , Sky Atlantic SD and HD , MGM HD , Disney Cinemagic HD , Nat Geo Wild HD , other ITV HD channels.

SSP 3 & 4 they can't do anything about. ITV 2 & 3 HD is hardly new & fresh content that has been talked about. MGM did an exclusive deal with Sky did they not? just like VM did with Flim 4 HD. Doesn't Sky own part of Nat Geo?

The other yes i agree would be nice but lets not forget (if you love TV so much you'll be on) XL customers get LOADS of HD for no extra cost.

If/when VM get ALL the HD Sky has then I hope same said people won't start grumping about price rises to cover it.

+ We've been told that more is coming soon (lol) And althhough we have to wait longer when they've promised they've delieverd.

Wasn't too long ago i remember reading how disgusted people were that VM had "lied" about Sky Arts HD coming...

Not strictly true a new customer pays an HD activation charge.

Coming soon is getting a tad boring now,Tivo is amzing but new content especially hd is needed. Were is universal HD ? amongst others can undestand delays on sky stuff but there`s channels on freesat that we aint got on here,We have just had a price increase on tv xl surely that wasn`t only for sky arts?

I've got a 50" Pioneer plasma, which has the best upscaling I've ever seen on a TV, so content is more important to me personally.
Out of the long list of Sky channels, the only shows I would like to see are on Sky Atlantic.

Having said that there are only 2! Game of Thrones, which having read the books, could well be a disappointment, and Mad Men for the missus. which hasn't been sorted out, due to contractual differences.

Tivo coming Wednesday - so I'm happy with Virgin at the moment....
(As long as they finally get the pricing right)

This is a personal opinion, I realise everybody wants different things.

And a fair point at that , what's good for one may not suit another person , its really down to personal preference.

It was pretty obvious what you meant, but with VM you have to remember..

When suckering you into a new contract or adding charges or infact making any changes to what you get they can be extremely vague and its you who needs to make sure you got the worlds best lawyers to tread the contract, listen to the phone call.

But you need ot be word perfect when talking to them.

Personally, I'm content with the sports channels we already have but the others on your list would be very welcome. Add those to TiVo and it would be a slam dunk for VM, IMHO.

I'm sure that if Virgin stepped up to the plate Denphone would give them the credit. For nearly a year they haven't so what else can he/she post?

HD is the present, to have so little by comparison to Sky is pathetic, especially in nature programme field which HD really sets off. Add CBS channels missing movie channels and still some HD movies, Atlantic etc the list goes on. With Virgin's response being as ever sub standard

Virgin has gone through Ofcom in order to be able to force Sky to hand over a LOT of their owned HD channels. And they did that because they knew those were the channels the customers wanted the most. If Sky won't and can't be forced to hand over HD channels they own, part own or have secured as exclusive what are VM able to do?

Indeed, VM took an AGE to get the non-exclusive and FTA HD channels but they did so after we *******ed them about it. They listened, learned and responded.

It makes perfect buisness sense to choose the most valuable HD channel and the ones WE wanted the most...and i repeat, VM XL (etc) customers get a lot of HD channels a little or no extra charge. I want to see all those complaining about the lack of CBS and ITV2 HD not utter a word if VM feel forced into supplying them and then have to raise prices as a result.

So if someone continues to perform poorly for 8 months you should praise them or just ignore it? Is that what you're saying? Or do you prefer to not push for better and continue happy clapping?

Errrm, Sky only allowed access to their HD channels as part of the deal where VM agreed to seel their tv channels to them. Which kind of proves the opposite of what you are saying it does. If VM hadn't sold them those channels they wouldn't have allowed access at any reasonable price.

Well we know the price VM are paying for the premium HD channels is based on the what Ofcom said was a reasonable price and the only way they have got those now is because of the channel sale. It tends to suggest Sky don't want to sell them on at a reasonable price doesn't it and that VM will pay a reasonable price if given the opportunity.

Just because that's the price OFCOM has set doesn't neccesarily mean that's the price VM wanted to pay.

Sky charge for them hence why they have more than VM , so how are Sky doing wrong ? VM charge a new customer a HD Activation charge of around 50.00 so HD is hardly free with them in year 1.

How do you know VM weren't offering Sky £5.00 a month for Premium HD and Sky wanted £10.00 a month and OFCOM intervened at £7.00 a month , like I say a lot of money is invested in Sky premium channels so no wonder they didnt want to give it away , we will never know.

Yes but when the Competition Commission says that they made the early outlay and now are reaping the benefits of this so why are they still charging this? Or are the Competition Commission looking in to this for other reasons?

Agree, most on here are beyond compare but it's like watching Jedward you know they are ridiculous but can't help but watch to see what rubbish they come up with next.

It almost seems that the usual suspects Hugh etc actively revel in Virgin doing little to nothing to improve the tv service they provide.

Sky are not your enemy just your superior and Virgin refuse to fight back. Sky therefore become richer and richer thus being able to pound Virgin deeper into the ground.

Yes and looking at the outlay that SKY has had and also the subscriber base they are able to corner the current market.

But you do not ignore it - you (and denphone) continously post repetitive negative whinges; I do not praise where something does not deserve it, if I am unhappy I will state it, but I don't go on and on and on and on and on about the same things again and again.

You, sir, are a poltroon - I do not actively revel; I comment on you actively and incessantly bitching; there is a difference. ;)
