Are the extra video streams still testing in some areas?

I suppose the test will come when Sky have their next interactive content , just checked but there's no red button content on my Sky box now.

If I remember correctly this was to be a two phase launch. Match Choice was part of the 2nd phase I think...

Doubt it as the Red Button functionality was only negotiated for sky sports apparently!.

Just been on the phone to virgin media to cancel both my tv and phone service over this the customer service agent told me yes sky sports Red Button is due to launch on virgin media but has not done yet and they do not know when it will.

So much for the vm employees on here who claimed it had launched when apparently it has not well done vm.:(

Yep have to say virgin staff on here seem to be at best misleading customers on here, if not out and out lying. Had a look on Virgin forum on Digital Spy seems the have no faith in the in the know crowd on here and seem to post no such lies/rumours.

Congratulations Richard for believing in better 

Perhaps they are posting to the best of their knowledge, and trying to be helpful.

Calling them liars is totally inappropriate, and reflects more on your attitude than their efforts, imho.

Surely though if vm employees are posting more up to date info could be made available, after all it took me a call to customer services today to tell me sky sports red button had not launched, despite vm employees on here claiming it had.:confused:

Imho it would be better for staff not to say anything about things that are coming soon, unless they know for certain that it is happening.
They are just setting themselves up for the sort of comments made by other posters who are obviously becoming very frustrated with them.

Hugh 22-04-2011 10:17

Re: sky sports red button

Could I just point out that a number of posters on CF repeatedly state that you can't trust anything a CSA tells you, and there has been a lot of confusion with the TiVo launch with contradictory messages from CSAs, and suddenly it seems what they say must be the source of all truth....:D

But that wasn't the point I was making - it was that perhaps the VM staff posting on here are telling us what they believe is happening, rather than lying, which, imho, is a foul calumny.

I work for VM and because of a few on here i will not post anything that has anything to do with VM, It not worth the abuse and bad abusive Pm's when you say something that the few don't like to hear or agree with and they know who they are ;)

Don't really understand that mate. As far as I can see there wouldn't be a problem if people posted fact. Seems to me though that none of these "insider rumours" actually bare fruit! Is it any wonder that your companies customers get angry. My God someone posted that cs had contacted them to say that they would add channels THIS YEAR! and it was greater as some sort of triumph by some. Let's face it nothing is coming to Virgin any time soon. Unless u count Arts HD announced 9 months ago

I understand customers get annoyed, hell i do some times but to rant about it for weeks and weeks must make them ill in the end.

See here a long post just posted a snip-it http://www.tivocommunity.com/tivo-vb...d.php?t=468512

"Red button functions will be more app orientated. By the time the 2012 Olympics start we hope to gave users an option of 24 different events VIA the 'BBCi app' - 2012
Multi files for Mum, Dad, Gran etc so only shows enjoyed by a certain family member will appear in these personal files.
Sky sports red button will not be available on TiVo until late 2011 early 2012 however will be available next month on V+ and V boxes."

I never understand why people get in a rant here

1. I have only ever had helpful service from VM customer services within the limitations they are given

2. there are many helpful members here who do their best to keep us imformed about developments - sometimes they may not get it quite right - but we are often dealing with a developing situation

3. a major software-new-write is bound to have teething problems - they will get it right soon & in time for the cricket on 28th hopefully

It's easy, but clearly she hadn't. There's been an article on the Intranet called "Sky Sports Interactive Available on Virgin Media" since yesterday morning.

Whether it's launched or not is moot, as there won't be any content published until next Thursday.

Why are you having trouble understanding that the red button is not only for live sports? They could simply be supplementing the live match with extra stats, angles, highlights etc via the red button.

You seem to be like a broken record constantly going on and on that you have managed to find the listed match on SS2. So what? Go phone Sky and ask someone in their CS if the red button is for additional live content only. They can confirm that their red button service offers services other than live sports.

Thats not nice saying i sound like a broken record it thats what you think i am glad to be leaving vm,a mate of mine takes sky sports and yes the Red Button covers lots of functions.

I have found the match that vm company employees on here claim that is the first to be shown on Red Button either is lies or is not.:(

Lots of content on sky sports has been available online since vm have claimed have launched red button.

I know that enhancements can get held up but VM really need to learn how to communicate these things better to customers and not give out timetables based on wishful thinking. I think you were told originally we would have the red button early in the new year.

It is about time Vm took on board comments made by customers about their poor communication, this has been a constant on these boards for as long as I can remember.:(

l totally agree with you about Virgins woeful communication and this is one of their biggest weaknesses at present, as l say they have improved in a lot of areas but this needs to be constantly ongoing for the future because you can bet your bottom dollar that Sky will not stand still and l cannot stick them because of a certain man called Rupert.

All I want VM to do is improve and it needs to listen to its customers , we are the ones that keep them in business. It is a real shame that the only way to a question answered about lots of different issues is to go to the CEO office, surely this is not the right way to do business.
Like you i am no fan of Murdoch, he has taken sport away from the average fan and made them pay through the nose.

Maybe I said what I wanted to say in the wrong way but I stick by my point that the red button launching is not dependent on the game actually being shown on SS2. I really don't see why anyone would keep on saying that again and again just to try and show that the staffers are wrong considering the game on SS2 itself could still use the red button.

As for me moving, I said if it was up to me then I wouldn't. For me personally, VM offer a superior product.

Sky sports red button is used on all Sky Sports channels , what Richard was trying to say was he'd checked the sky sports listing and couldn't see the use of red button.

My worries are when are we are going to get and in what form, my suspicion is that we will get a third division type version.

I guess i do feel a bit animated by the Red Button function after waiting for it to arrive on vm for so long.:)

Interestingly when i spoke to customer service the nice lady told me they had no idea when the launch would happen,my only problem has been that vm have not been very upfront but there you go.:(

I agree denphone most forum members on here are helpful and do their best.

Its VM i am more critical of though as a company for its very poor communication with us their customers.:(

Don't think people get angry at people who post. Think they're angry at virgin. My recollection is one of vague promises from CS then months of nothing. Think that's what causes the anger. Gradually virgin customers are getting sick of it and moving to Sky, who despite their flaws, DELIVER!

Yes i know what you mean, but i would not mind things not turning up so much if virgin put out a statement letting customers know the reasons for any dealy,as it is they usually say nothing which obviously winds customers up the wrong way.

I agree that VM never communicate well which is why I initially began using this forum. I guess just about everything they seem to be adding now is Sky so they don't want to shout too much about it.

Funnily enough, when I called to cancel my tv the lady said red button would launch before 28 (which is the date I asked for cancellation). But she also said Ofcom were in the process of getting Sky Atlantic for VM so I didn't believe her on anything!

Sky Sports red button service coming to Virgin Media

Posted 24th April 2011 by Paul The long awaited Sky Sports red button service might be coming to Virgin Media next week.
According to the Virgin Media blog by the very reliable Media Boy we could expect to see the red button video services appearing for Virgin Media TV customers on Thursday 28th April.

Its just sales/retention talk. I know of people as far back as last August last year that were told the red button works on SS on VM before signing up only to find it didn't work once they had their installation.

Generally the announcement is made when it's actually available. So that report is accurate I would expect a Customer News article to be on My VM etc when it's launched

It's very confusing , I would have thought if it was launching tomorrow there would have been an announcement , maybe even a calendar of coming events , another thing people need to remember is the feeds behind the red button are only in SD at least for now anyway.

It is denphone just why when something is due to launch is it "buisiness sensitive" i wonder and no info is forthcoming.

And its not the fault of any virgin media employee who posts on here as they all do ther best i am sure.
