Best goal celebration ever.
RVN misses a penalty against Andorra. One of the Andorra players makes fun of him (@ 10 seconds). Watch RVN take revenge as he scores 10 minutes later. :D |

I loved the build up video with Lineker and Shearer. Brilliant.
Not sure about introducing a completely new formation for our most crucical game in years. Squeaky bum time. |

It should have been more comfortable than it was, BUT, I am not complaining.
The only worrying thing was the tiredness of some players at the end. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
USA have scored meaning Slovenia is out. USA and runners up England now through to the last 16.

Any idea as to why USA gets top spot as the GD and points is the same?? I take it's on goals scored as USA is on 4 and England on 2??

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Well played England but come on! This team where poor to say the least, they should have had no trouble sticking at least 3 past them. This may have put a sticking plaster over the wound but it will soon fall off.
As soon as they come up against any half decent opposition (probably next game) they will be lose unless they play with more composure. Still to many basic errors and not enough skill/ability to keep the ball. At least they won though...............just! :) p.s. Thought Milner had a great game but he looked cream crackered half way through the second half. It`s probably put another couple of million on his price tag  |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Matty, England won and they was playing with alot more composure and with the spirts been high they can only improve now, Gerrard has now been given a more free role and Defoe is on form, not sure what to do about Rooney, but Joe Cole was little shining star.

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Interestingly, one of Uruguay, South Korea, USA and Ghana are going to be in the semi-finals. Probably none of them would have thought so going in to the tournament.
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
So it's Germany in the next round then.
I think it will be a tight game and if we continue to improve we will nick it, fingers crossed  |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
5-1 like last time would be brilliant but Argentina after Germany (well if we beat Germany)

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Would it be a good world cup for us if we had the likes of South Korea, Ghana or USA at this stage. So to get Germany the build up now will make it more the better no matter what. Ok Argentina is scary thought.
I'm hopeful based on what I saw last night against Ghana that England does have a good chance. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
I'd rather we knock Germany out now than have to face them later, at this point we'll be more relaxed than in the finals
|
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
This year's world cup is sounding a bit familiar.
The French give up, the Americans decide to turn up at the last minute and England are left to face the Germans. |

Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
Lots of jokes about atm (have cleaned some of them up for this forum
Whats the difference between Cinderella and the England football team? Cinderella wanted to get to the ball.... Osama bin Laden has just released a new TV message to prove he is still alive. He said that the England Team performance on Saturday was completely rubbish. British intelligence have dismissed the claim, stating that the message could have been recorded anytime in the last 44 years. Robert Green - The only man to leave Africa with out catching anything . I can't believe we only managed a draw against a crap team we should easily have beaten......I'm ashamed to call myself Algerian. The England team went to visit an orphanage in South Africa this morning, "its so good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling, and facing the impossible" said Jamal Omboto, aged 6. Fifa have released a statement saying the fan didn't break into the dressing room after all, but was let in by Rob Green. What's the difference between Rob Green's spill and BP's spill? - Robert Green has got a cap for his. Fabio Capello was wheeling his shopping trolley across the supermarket car park when he noticed an old lady struggling with her bags of shopping. He stopped and asked, "Can you manage dear?" To which the old lady replied, "No way. You got yourself into this total mess, don't ask me to sort it out..." The FA have launched an inquiry to find out how a fan found his way into the dressing room. And another enquiry into how Aaron Lennon found his way into the dressing room. |

Defending champs out in the knockout stages  Slovakia looked a half decent team, if you won your group then had to play them next up you`d be gutted... Also it was nice to see the South Africans have adopted England as their second team, we need all the support we can get (even Scots, Welsh and Irish.);) |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
England have scored 2 goals so far and that's what worries me. With Rooney not playing that well, where are the goals going to come from against Germany ?
On the plus side, if we can stop Kloser from scoring we should be in with a good chance of going through to the next round. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
The Germans are not playing well at all so far, so, what does everyone think our chances are? I think we can go all the way this time;) I`ve just got a feeling. England 3 Germany 2.

Not long back from Canada, great place to watch the world cup with so many cultures around, loads of cars with England/German/Italian flags on them. The front page of the main Toronto newspaper on the Sunday after the first England game was of Robert Green - think you want to add there to a list of places to avoid during international tournaments Russ ;)

Germany 4 - 1 England
Rooney will score first and the whole country will get big headed and cocky then James will get sent off then Green will go in goals - and we know what happens when Green is in goals. |
Re: FIFA World Cup 2010 South Africa
We won't score.
Germany 3 - 0 England Germany will get an early-ish goal (~20 mins) and the game will go abck and forth for a while. Then Germany will get two more between 70-90 mins in. |
