Re: The Xbox One Thread
But the TV stuff is extra. You don't have to use that if you don't want to. Bit like the 360 and its extra features.
I take it that if you haven't used the console in a few days then you switch it off that the 24 hrs thing isn't literally 24hrs but since you last checked in whewn you last used it. Does that make sense? |

I am annoyed as I had always planned to get an Xbox but I don't think I will now. But I will wait until both are released before I buy one. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
If they did that then I may consider an xbone as long as the quality of the games are on par with the PS4, considering that appears a lot more powerful.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I highly doubt anything will change, they've already got a shitton of pre-orders.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Anyone else having increasingly annoying download speeds on the 360 lately? Waited nearly an hour for 815mb download.
As for Library sharing, assuming I still make a purchase of one then I'm up for it yeah. lT7l VIIP3R lXl - Likely to make a new one for the X1 though as this gamertag is plagued with numerous bans and resets due to some experimenting with the USB features. |

Looking up your gamertag on the website and I can certainly see why you'd wanna new GT. On topic though, my speeds have been fine.

I am still so torn between which system to buy, i don't want to get both and the PS4 does look to be far more powerful and after posting the video of what the EYE can do in the PS4 thread last night i would likely buy the camera too...... grrrrr i guess i have to sit it out and decide in 2014 when the dust settles. |

Anonymous Xbox engineer explains DRM and Microsoft's Xbox One intentions
It's a long tail strategy, just like steam. Steam had it's growing pains at the beginning with all it's drm **** as well. [...] For digital downloads steam had no real competition at the time, they were competing against boxed sales. At the time people were pretty irate about steam, (on 4chan too...) It was only once they had a digital marketplace with DRM that was locked down to prevent sharing that they could do super discounted ****. >Think about it, on steam you get a game for the true cost of the game, 5$-30$. On a console you have to pay for that PLUS any additional licenses for when you sell / trade / borrow / etc. If the developer / publisher can't get it on additional licenses (like steam), then they charge the first person more. [...] If we say "Hey publishers, you limit game to 39.99, we ensure every license transfer you get 10$, gamestop gets 20$" that is a decent model... Microsoft gets a license fee on first and subsequent game purchases, compared to just first now? That's a revenue increase. http://www.neowin.net/news/anonymous...one-intentions |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Apparently the Xbox One games at E3 were running on Windows 7 and an Nvidia GTX, if this is true then i think it is 1 balls up by MS, i would like to know if the PS4 also did something similar.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
Can't help but Lol at the Windows based PC's being passed off as Xbox one's above.
I hope to god they both look similar as the current gap is massive enough already. Anyway as for the possibility of being banned and losing games, are people forgetting they can ban your xbox 360 from even connecting to online services? something which I'm very sure will be implemented into the XBone. So forget about losing games, what about effectively losing the whole console. I don't know about any of you but I'm pretty certain they'll carry it over. Note: Currently to receive a console ban you'd have to do one of the following or both. 1) Theft of services such as DLC or Microsoft Points, free xbox live and so on. 2) Modded devices such as JTAG'd machines that are used online (currently an instant 999 year ban on the console) If current rules apply for the next generation should we really care about those type of bans? If you're essentially stealing then I should think losing your console is a lucky escape rather than facing a more severe punishment. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
I can't see how anyone is able to steal DLC or MS points though. Unless the account gets hacked?
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Quote:
http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011...l-1-2-million/ there are also various methods to steal MS points on the xbox itself but only in the increments they provide. I'm not here to go into detail, just to say it's completely possible and continues to happen. You are also correct about account theft which leads to credit card fraud and incredibly only leads to a console ban instead of prosecution. Accounts and stolen goods often end up being sold from China though so Microsoft can't do much about it. It's been happening since launch like I said but took off massively after the release of FIFA 12, said incidents can be found all over the web. Using any stolen account or dodgy MSP WILL lead to the xbox being banned completely online. http://digiex.net/attachments/genera...options-2-.png A JTAG'd Xbox 360 seen in the above picture, an instant 999 ban if they connect to the Xbox Live servers but some can bypass it, apart from seeming innocent and running homebrew etc, these things cause havoc online, modded call of duty lobbies to rampant infections in public lobbies, aimbots and what not, they can turn an online game upside down in a second. Here is a link to the console banning page: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/consoleban Anyway enough with the gloom! Here's some morning enjoyment. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.n...67904647_n.jpg |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
We're still awaiting news whether digital purchases will be cheaper than buying physical, if not then I really don't know where to turn. It makes logical sense to buy a PS4 or just stick with a PC. £54.99 for FIFA, having a laugh EA, here's to Ubisoft sinking you with NEW content. I got FIFA 13 for £25 from a CD keys website last year but EA continue to charge £49 for a digital download.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
It is a shame MS didn't go region free like the PS4 then games would be cheaper like at play-asia.
If both consoles want us to embrace digital downloads then they should make digital downloads £10 cheaper than bluray discs, i think they really missed an opportunity there. |

What are the reasons behind you guys getting the xbone as it is leaving me frustrated because of the power difference?
Is it brand loyalty? More games that take your fancy? You want the TV stuff? Buying it for the controller? Does it concern you that it is possible the games may play better on the ps4 due to the superior GPU and far faster memory or do you think there won't be any difference? |

Sure the DualShock 4 is supposed to be better (e.g. with non-crap triggers at long last), but I still prefer the look of the Xbox pad. Power difference... I'm sure that it will be apparent in exclusive games, but for multiplatform stuff I doubt that we'd see much of a difference, despite the PS4's faster RAM and extra GPU cores. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
it not the drm that screwed microsoft it the 24hr rule i no my connection goes down at least once a month for over a day most players like playing single player games it a kick in the teeth to most players of offline games i have switched to ps4 for that reason drm didn't bother me 24hr rule killed mine and my mates interest in the console

Re: The Xbox One Thread
SnoopZ I don't think power will effect consoles that much. Pretty much al lthe multi platform games will look almost identical. There will of course be some exlcusive titles that may look better but then again the 360 ended up with some games that looked better than their PS3 versions. Ghostbusters was one that stuck in my mind for looking a lot worse on the PS3.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
True, but correct me if i am wrong, didn't the 360 have more powerful graphics compared to the PS3 where it was able to display better textures?
My problem is i don't want to buy both consoles as i only game occasionally on selected titles like Battlefield so i am kinda torn. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread

This was down to the Playstation's "cell" processor not really being ideal for a games console. So developers simply started writing the games for Xbox then doing a weak port over to Playstation. Some of the playstations first party developer games look stunning. |

Re: The Xbox One Thread
seeing as both consoles are now X86 architecture I see no reason why cross platform games should stay equal on the consoles. The PS4 clearly has a much better GPU and some PCs a lot better than the PS4 so I see no reason why devs can not just code a medium and high and Ultra gfx version of the same game (XB one PS4 and PC with options for all)

I also think that two people on the friends list can play the same game at the same time (please can others correct me) ie you the owner and another And you don't need to be on the same console. (i think it works by account) So the benefit mentioned would be that you could share buying of games with "friends". No good to me..I don't like sharing, and no friends :D |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
lol Colin i don't like sharing and i don't have many game console friends yet.

Re: The Xbox One Thread
from this link
http://www.penny-arcade.com/report/a...t-some-details quote extract (from above link) So that answers one question: Microsoft doesn't seem to care whether or not the ten people in the group are actually family members. They can be friends, roommates, boyfriends, girlfriends, your dog's groomer… you pick ten people, and you share games with them. The question is how many people can play the game at the same time. Spencer told me he believed that two people can play one copy of a game concurrently, but he urged me to check Microsoft's official wording on the matter to be sure. This is what the licensing page states: Just like today, a family member can play your copy of Forza Motorsport at a friend’s house. Only now, they will see not just Forza, but all of your shared games. You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time. So one family member can play a game at a time, but can I be playing the same game? If I buy one copy of a multiplayer title, can I play it in co-op with my son if I own two Xbox One systems? “The only limitation, it seems, is that only one person can be playing the shared copy of a single game at any given time,” Ars Technica reported after speaking with Microsoft Xbox Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer Yusuf Mehdi. “All in all, this does sound like a pretty convenient feature that's more workable than simply passing discs around amongst friends who are actually in your area.” |

When it says 'shared library' do you have to download the game in full from whoever has the original. How big will these games be? If you do have to download the library or game then everyone's going to be throttled.

A victory for common sense. |
Re: The Xbox One Thread
The problem with people these days is they are too reluctant to embrace change , digital downloads are the future of gaming , yes the 24 hour checkin was a little over the top but the family sharing idea was groundbreaking in my opinion. It's now no more special than the ps4 in terms of evolution to the next generation.
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
Shame no family sharing now, that was a great feature but you cant have everything
|
Re: The Xbox One Thread
It's not really a restriction on used games though. It's purely as the game installs to the hdd and the disc isn't required in the drive that they need to have a system in place to remove that game off your account if you sell it on.
Family sharing was a great idea but now thanks to people not willing to embrace change we are back to the current way of doing things with physical media. |
